Well molotov or not, they'll still point to the curfew and that large crowd putting hands on a SWAT vehicle and say their actions are justified. It's not like there isn't enough broken property at this point for protesters to pretend there isn't a need for some order right now; the looters really fucked this up for legitimate protesters.

This is the same as any other riot that has happened in American history, there's always going to be opportunists who fuck it up for everyone.

And they were throwing molotov cocktails.

It's not conclusive, they still have to find corroborating evidence with the first autopsy and now the federal autopsy. However this is one of the leading pathologists in the world, so it's hard to believe someone else is going to see it much differently.

A 90 degree angle shot could also mean he was hit as he was falling down.

Considering pathologists do this for a living, I'm pretty sure you can safely assume he was shot in cold blood at this point.

I legitimately do not know the specifics of the rules re: peaceful assembly; is this type of declaration constitutional?

    You are America, sir.

Probably not, but the city likely can prove that the time and place is not "safe" and thus people must protest elsewhere.

The assembly clause only guarantees people can assemble and that laws cannot be made outlawing it. It doesn't prevent technicalities such as permit requirements, etc.

I had to look that up.

But it makes sense to keep the roads clear for emergency vehicles if people are looting and burning businesses down.

Do everyone a favor and stop trying to rationalize this. It's like your favorite sports team lost and you're looking for excuses.

Obviously they need to clear the streets. Even more obvious is that this isn't the reason they're doing it.

Generally Time/location/place restrictions can be legal if reasonable. Content-based generally are unconstitutional

    Not an official legal opinion.

Right, because whats most important is the protesters ability to remain as annoying as possible to the police and local businesses. They are still protesting, just not in the middle of the streets where they're building barricades and hurling molotovs. Stop trying to act like it's an unreasonable thing they're being asked to do.

I get the feeling of frustration they must have over all this, and the entire country sympathizes with them; however, the few bad apples spoiled the bunch and now they have to be dealt with. It's like some people honestly expect the state department to see barricades in the middle of the street and looters looting and just sit back and not handle it. This is exactly what they were trained too handle, even if they have the worst attitude about it.

Part of the reasons protests grow loud and disruptive is because otherwise the local gentry can completely ignore the cause since it doesn't impact them in any way.

Oh no some folks might be mildly inconvenienced by black people sick of shit of living under the heels of poorly-trained, over-militarized cops that resort to killing unarmed civilians.

My coworker is so racist it's unreal, and keeps trying to say she's not racist, but "white people don't riot like this and tear up their cities." All I can think of is the riots in Vancouver after the Stanley Cup final a few years ago.

I can't even ... I just ... Honestly I just kind of give up with her. But I did tell her that if you're just following the media, you're not going to see what's actually happening. Social media is painting a much larger picture of what's going on. And this is why I prefer places like BG for my news, because I'm getting as much information from all sources as I can.

So you're telling me peaceful protests don't work?
