and now, the question i don’t see asked: why hasn’t there just been a sacrifice in the name of peace? http://t.co/vL55HvaNXz
The march stopped for a little amateur hour, hosted by Nelly!
"Nelly orating with a bullhorn. Tells crowd they need a plan. People ask what his plan is. He doesn't have a plan"

You're completely wrong, and this is a matter of truth and fiction. What you're saying is not even remotely helpful, nor is it even in good spirit. Ignoring skin color, stating we're all one kind, and generally implying that we should assimilate and homogenize does not fix anything. It pretends that racism doesn't matter and isn't a complex issue, it makes people subject to it feel marginalized, and it implies that differences in culture are insignificant and unworthy of recognition. It has been demonstrated time and time again that whitewashing is not the way, as it is an ignorant, arrogant, laissez-faire approach that makes people feel good ("let's get together, hold hands, and sing kumbaya") while fixing absolutely nothing.
If you want to make a difference, you do need to recognize that racism is a very real and unfortunately very powerful thing in modern society. You do need to recognize that people of color are specifically targeted and mistreated with statistically demonstrable and all-too-common frequency in comparison to whites. You absolutely have to frame it in colors if you want to actually do anything effective about the situation.
By removing color from the equation, you are taking a purely anti-intellectual and privileged approach that attempts to paint a heavily-studied and well-supported reality of racism as a simple, foolish thing that can simply be willed away.

sho baby, i love you
And if people are interested in doing something as old fashioned as reading a book these days, this is an excellent primer on how people who 'don't see race' do little to combat and a lot to reinforce structural racism in these United States.

This is true but i've seen at least a few similar studies referenced that are at least somewhat consistent on the car related search statistics. (in other areas . I want to say in texas but it's been a while since i read the book) I'll go pick up the book I read them in and hope I have enough free time to reference later since the longer this thread goes on the more relevant having up to date knowledge/references from this book seems to get.
Has anyone actually seen anything about this on FB because I've not seen shit so far?
I bet everyone in that police department straight up hate Darren Wilson's guts right now lol.
im sure they enjoy all the over time and playing pretend army
It's gonna suck for him as the days and months move on. Some of the scenarios that I've thought out in my mind, using his friends defense (who defended him on CNN) doesn't even peg him as a racist at all, just a man who lacked foresight on deescalating the situation within those 3 minutes of the shooting. If it really does come to light that he's not really a racist person but a man who was scared it's REALLY gonna suck for him and the police department.
