Authorities say a man walked into a store and showed a knife.

The store owner says he got into a dispute with the man.

Police were called but the suspect refused to put down the weapon. He tried to attack police and was shot and killed.

this was all in a convenience store, so there has to be video.

Do we actually know the cop's story? They haven't released an incident report right? And he definitely hasn't made a public statement? That's part of my frustration - a kid is dead, and no public official is saying what happened.

We don't know it fully at all. Just some choice statements and a third hand account of it so far. There hasn't been a public statement on it yet.

I don't really know how people are coming to hard set conclusions on the Brown shooting at this juncture. The results of the autopsies were not particularly conclusive and somewhat divergent in certain respects. You have witnesses on both sides saying very different things happened. You have Brown roughing up a convenience store clerk and some making the large logical leap that he did the same to Wilson that night (not logic I'd agree with really given the difference between a cop and a convenience story clerk). You have the officer with an injury ranging from a bruise to some sort of an orbital fracture, depending on the source, consistent with some sort of tussle (theoretically, he could have just had a fellow cop punch him after the fact if you get your tinfoil hat on). Even CNN has an article up right now about why using six shots was a plausible response in the situation:

But if officers are trained for center of mass aiming, why the two head shots?

I don't really have a strong opinion one way or the other on the shooting itself. I do think the Ferguson police department's reaction to the protests (particularly early on) has been doing Wilson absolutely zero favors; they look like a bunch of militarized loonies which lends a lot of credence to the belief that Wilson was just one of said loonies.

I was more making a comment on the fact people are so out for blood now(lack of better term) that this will just be more fuel on the fire regardless of how the facts play out, if they get wind of it. At least for the less-than-honest protesters in the group.

FOX reporting the Attorney General Eric Holder is heading to Ferguson with a top Department of Justice official now:

There's about 40 FBI agents in Ferguson right now as well. It might take an interesting turn now, knowing that Holder is an extremely outspoken man who's not afraid to say what's on his mind (unlike Obama).

Anyways if they have more then a dozen people corroborating the officers story, that would be why there hasn't been an arrest. Should be more transparent and release the actual testimony, but they probably can't for legal reasons.

Is it possible that part of the union agreement there, cops arent subject to being held for 48-72 pending an investigation for their actions in the field? Which could explain why they didnt simply do this:

I'd stick to the major news food groups on this topic. CNN/Fox/MSNBC/NYT/Wash Post/etc. all have very clear biases, but they all have at least fairly defined journalistic standards for publishing (maybe not Fox haha). Honestly, the best news source for unbiased facts and information is Bloomberg by a country mile. As someone who does not identify with a political party, it's my favorite news site.

Michael Bloomberg is indeed liberal, but it doesn't permeate his eponymous news agency imo. They also have the highest journalistic standards of any U.S. news agency; they will never report something unless it is extremely well-corroborated. It's probably due to their particular focus on finance where incorrect information can cause immediate and substantial damage to companies and investors.
