Women who clutch their bags when blacks are around are the same as people who hold bias when they hire associates into their companies. It creates a cycle of bad of which archibald explained just below your post. When Black people (or any race) is denied employment & housing opportunities, they go off and do other things, usually bad things that they shouldn't be doing. Why? Because everyone wants to eat, everyone wants a roof over their heads at night. This is usually the motivation behind people robbing, extortion, trafficking and joining gangs, for the sense of camaraderie and the feeling of safety and security in their lives. White people inherently don't have this problem unless they are from an impoverished background.

Not everyone is doing stupid shit or dropping out of school to be bad guys for the sake of being bad guys.

Approximately 0.5~1% Black people live in the area. Combine this with the fact that the education system doesn't exactly churn out many top tier tech guys who are also African-American. Google simply doesn't have much of a pool to draw on that's of African-Americans. Has nothing to do with race in this instance. Since we've already got a lot of overlap in these forums, I'll reference a neighboring discussion involving guns and crime in general in the gun thread. People who are driven to crime normally aren't the stereotypical psychopathic individuals that star as villains in action flicks. They're genuine individuals who sincerely understand what separates right and wrong, and likewise, what will bring them life or death. It's a matter of survival, not a matter of wanting to find and kill someone.

When people are discriminated against, and therefore prevented from participating in what can ensure them a contributing role in society, misfortune may drive them down into the dirt, where all that's left to aspire to is survival. It's sad as fuck, and we shouldn't do this to each other, but we do. Lives end after robbing a gas station for a few hundred bucks because of this. Lives that were lived by people who did get a gun, and who did point it at someone, but who didn't want to kill anyone. We understand that's a horrible thing to do, and an awful risk to take, and so do they. For the most part, they are not stupid, even if the act itself appears to be, superficially. They're desperate, and that can drive a smart person to doing stupid things, especially when all of the education and all of the wisdom they've accumulated in their lifetime is rendered meaningless by prejudices they can't control.

I would love to see any number of people in this thread go to real ghetto so they can see the human condition and get a more "in your face" view. They'll end up learning that, despite it being a dangerous society, there are genuine people who live there with their own concerns and problems just like any other human.

It's easy to sit behind a PC and talk about this stuff, but much harder to get someone to go in and see the reality of what they defend/oppose.
