i'm absolutely serious. there were never more than a few black kids in my grade at school, and they were all girls. as far as i can remember, all of them ended up dropping out/moving/going to the alternative school.
but in XI, i had friends from all over the world. Including Compton. one of them got dragged into the gang life there. i forgot his character name, but his two RL buddies were Sakuma and Celmack. Celmack was the lovable 'tard and Sakuma was just a regular dude. he was pretty melancholy over the third guy. i guess they'd kinda been using XI to keep themselves out of that shit. Last I heard from them, Celmack and Sakuma were in college for computer science or some shit. And then there's AoE, all up in the navy and shit.
Yknow, we often mock it as a terrible game and whatever, but XI was really a very unique experience. Especially as teens/young adults. You just don't get that level of exposure to other people in most online activities.
When I finally hit 70+ in XI (2006lolTHF, what are invites?) and went looking for a Dynamis/Sky LS, it was the rare period where I had a job. But I was always shifted for closing, which meant no NA shells for me.
But I had a friend of a friend who got me into an EU LS. And I then spent the next six years spending more time interacting with people on the other side of the planet than I did with people within ten miles of me.
I'm never going to regret that.
Hey, look, the only eyewitnesses that matter to the neocons/closet racists have finally spoken up:

I've been told by confirmed source that two construction workers who witnessed #MikeBrown shooting and said he had his hands up are White.
Clearly they were in makeup.
What the fucking fuck. RT @doctorow: Ferguson PD now fingerprinting all children in town under cover of "safety"
Wow. Ferguson PD has no chill
Oh wait, isn't that that program that IDs your child incase they're kidnapped or lost that way there's info to ID the kid in case parents can't? I've heard of this before.
I'm sure that's the bullshit reason they give, yes
Yeah they do that everywhere.
They did that shit in my area back in the 90s. It's not new. I think it's an overreaction
It is an overreaction.
They still do it in schools all over its not mandatory.
The person who tweeted that definitely overreacted, but, yeah, Ferguson PD using that amazing PR firm, as you can see.
Great article on the two new witnesses accounts. More support for the "hands up, turned around, OK OK OK OK OK" narrative.

oh if it's not mandatory then idgaf. poorly timed/continues making them look bad though
Is it just me or does the laptop in top photo have a huge crack in it?
You think they'd risk bringing a new laptop into that kind of neighborhood?
It went for his gun.
