So again, why bad PR and why given the circumstances? A program designed to help children and families that has been around for years is coming in to question all of a sudden given the tensions that have nothing to do with this program? Man... I suppose the Ferguson PD should just renounce everything and just all quit instead of trying to be nice guys and fixing their image...

The problem is it's mostly white cop fingerprinting black children. We can't have that in this country.

You see, if you shoot a surrendering unarmed black teen to death, the key to fixing your image is fingerprinting black children BEFORE they start invariably committing crimes like jaywalking.

The program is used to help track children in case they're missing or need to be located immediately, and provides more security when you need to identify the child. Since most don't carry I.D. on them, the next best thing to get in touch with parents and whatnot is a biometric. This has been happening since the 90's, and is nothing new. But, by all means. Spin it as a means to control the black population.

You really can't see how entering young black kids into the police database is dumb timing by this PR team? I'm sure Ferguson has an epic problem of kids going missing and runaways(lol).

Because we all know that there fingerprint technology is 99% fail-proof when solving crimes.

Because Ferguson PD has always been active with the black community, these guys truly care(don't look at the overwhelming history, and continuation, of civil rights abuses within the force!)

This is something done around the country every year. What is an acceptable amount of time to wait, according to you?

Active in their community, mostly because most of the community is black? Also, if everyone felt this way, why are they volunteering for it? It's not mandatory.

Oh wait, maybe it's because members of the community don't think the police force is the way you think it is? Maybe the "history" of the force (to be honest, I would expect a group of cross burning, hood wearing racists to have more incidents under their belt than just the few we have seen so far), really isn't that bad and is a product of a few officers being dicks that doesn't represent the whole department?

Lemme give you some reality here in comparison to my own reality. I work in an environment (citizens) that is almost 95% black. I'd say the rest of the 5% is Asian and Hispanic. A look at my stat history shows a handful of encounters with whites with most of my encounters being black.

Am I racist? Probably, if you go off the numbers. We forget the simple and logical explanation is: the community I PSA is not demographically diverse. I get some whites, all of which do not live in the area I am responsible for. The rest live there. So wouldn't those numbers be skewed a bit to make it appear as if I am a racist because I stop more blacks? Or is it more of a fact that there's no one else of a different race to stop in the area I work?

It's simple and logical to think this way. Put more emphasis on the numbers without thinking about what they mean specifically, and you're just fooling yourself and being led around by the leash.

Considering that Ferguson PD has a group within the force that came from the one that was force to disband for being the racist pigs that they were, 6? out of the 49 are already confirmed to be "bad apples" so far, I'm going to predict that the DoJ's investigation into Ferguson's past is not going to look too good, buddy.

i remember doing the fingerprinting as a kid. pretty sure we went down to the station to do it, though.

idk i feel like whether or not it's bad timing is not really something anyone from outside ferguson can judge, since it depends entirely on the relationship with the community.
