    Question on Verizon Fios

Made the switch from Comcast to Verizon FioS a week or so ago. Apparently they push it through a phone line according to a subcontractor? I didn't think anything of it at the time, but is that correct? I have a line coming out of my phone line to a DSL modem and then to the verizon router. Now Fiber is obviously different then DSL, but from what I have read on a few forums, if your place is FioS ready (which my apartment complex was according to them) then FioS can be sent via the phone line and converted using an ONT box. I'm just curious about it all, as I don't trust them to not be giving me DSL at the price of Fiber. Any easy way to tell without hooking up network testing tools?

If you have FiOS speed like 25 up 25 down, you know its FiOS lol.

Also FiOS is fiber to the house. Not phone line at all. It goes Fiber to ONT to Coax or Ethernet.

Edit: you can also check online what your order is.

Most commercial internet is all pushed through the same wiring up on the telephone pole. They run coax from their cabling to your house, then, give you a new box/receiver/converter. It all depends where you live and what they have available there.

FiOS is the exception lol... they wire fiber cables directly to your house.

I wish Verizon didn't stop their roll-out. I know setting up new infrastructure and laying cable is expensive but I want FiOS D: I know TWC is doing 300 & 100 Mbps roll outs but the upload caps only at 20.

Just spoke with Verizon. It's not FioS it is DDSL. Apparently my complex is not wired for FioS but a hybrid of FioS/DSL bullshit. I was not made aware of this, and the fact that I Need to connect to it via WiFi since the router is in my kitchen, fuck it. going back to comcast. Not paying fucking FioS prices to connect via WiFi to a DSL modem at 15/5 speeds.

Ok actually it's VDSL so I misheard the guy talking earlier. Wasn't sure what the fuck DDSL was. Still ass though, need to use wifi for 15/5. Comcast has 25/5 for $10 and as much as I hate dealing with them the service is about the same between connected comcast and wifi Verizon
