So what should have Sony done? Gave away free copies of GTA V to everyone?
Even without the attack servers would have been bogged down like it is every holiday for all services.

They should've just gived the 5 extra days to anyone who has an account by Jan first
Not hard
They should have given a free month (which wouldnt hurt them at all) and/or a free relevant game.
If people who just bought a ps4 or a playstation system in general for the first time for xmas and got fucked as hard as they did, they wouldnt be too excited about buying ANYTHING from sony atm.
10% off isnt shit. You probably got all the games you will need to play for xmas with your system for the next month or 3.
This whole situation is fucked. You would think the network for the company that completely slaughtered the competition in sales the past year would have more money to keep it safe and get it back up in a situation like this. And yet, they took longer. AND they didnt even have the decency to give any public acknowledgement or eta to fix.
Fuck! Sorry, wrong thread.
You come across as very entitled to something you arent. The network was down for like 3 days and they are giving you 5 days to make up for that. On top of that every one gets 10% off. You can't exactly stop a DDoS attack and they werent even hacked. To top it off other services also were down but you don't hear any of them doing anything to make up for it.
Notrly.
I think for the people who already had the system, the stuff provided is fine. But there should be something more given for those that were unable to use their new system. While I'm sure proving it via receipts or whatnot would be a pain, the new owners are the ones who got hit harder by this and yet get less of a compensation.
Its all about the customer. And sony is showing they really dgaf.
how dare someone expect a company to try to earn some goodwill by offering a more satisfying compensation for what was for many a terrible first impression. the nerve of that guy!
Why were new owners unable to use the system? You could have downloaded the system update offline with a USB drive and you can play most games without applying game updates.
I guess all of us should have been given something that bought a PS4 day one when we had problems getting on PSN for a day or two as well?
I personally didn't give a shit. I had my PS4 with me on vacation but I was just using it for offline Guilty Gear practice because my grandparents Internet is booty tier.
That said, Sony has not handled this situation well at all and those purchased/recieved a PS4 during this situation have a right to be miffed.
Yeah I guess they should be given $100s of free product because the network was down for a few days.
No one is asking for that you twat. Like I said, I literally spent over a grand on the system and games and couldn't use any of the online features, which is the main reason I bought most of the games I did. I also can't get back the vacation time that I had to actually play for an extended period of time. Just because you can sit on your ass and play games whenever the fuck you want doesn't mean everyone else can. It's the only time all year I get vacation. It's the same story for a huge number of people.
More importantly, it's fucking stupid that Plus is required to access online features to begin with. Live and Plus are horseshit.
Yes sony's shit at preventing massive server attacks and recovering from it especially when most of their workers are on holiday because you know they are people too and not slaves. You are a entitled brat if you want 1 month free online and 100$ free games when they are already giving 5 days extended plus membership and a 10% cart discount compensation because you couldn't play online or patch for 3 days.
