it's not, that guy keeps just saying random things that he thinks up.
all the chinese RMT use jp registered accounts with full jp information and jp VPNs, it does nothing.

Are you high, of fucking course it's different people. Jp do whatever the fuck they want whenever the fuck they want, with zero rerepercussion if youve played this game for 10 seconds you know thats true. Ive seen it first hand i even had a GM tell me its true, though he wasnt allowed to say it explicitly, it was more than implied. It is impossible, actually impossible to get a jp banned, let alone even suspended. Now, THEY can report each other, but you can't.
Considering I've seen your "impossible" done, this isn't true. I've had the special pleasure of reporting a JP player who was warping around a Wildkeeper Reive like Nightcrawler on crack. He most assuredly got the banstick, considering I haven't seen the guy logged in for months afterwards.
I've been around for eight years. Never been in trouble with a GM a single time. Never even received any warnings or cautions even. Regardless, I've seen a decent number of JP disappear after fleehacking (namely on colorless soul farming). The fact of the matter is that third-party tool usage and the like is nowhere near as prevalent among the JP population. Even Windower is significantly less common among the JP population. This is difficult to support unfortunately, and I don't expect anyone to take my word for it, except for maybe Draylo, NynJa, and Byrth because I believe I've established my credibility with them (I hope). However, the supporting evidence I have is as follows:
- Very few JP FFXI videos demonstrate Windower usage.
- During Delve I Tojil era, I would frequently go with JP parties as PLD and the HP percentages would NEVER be called out or asked for by anyone.
- I personally have seen more well-geared JP players die to Marine Mayhem than well-geared NA players, implying experience but lack of distance gauging.
Again, I'm aware this isn't perfect, so make of it as you will.
Right, but were they fleehacking back before SE got so banhappy (pre Nov. 2014) or are they fleehacking now?
Meaning being logged in for more then 24 hours. That by itself won't get you banned at all, but add enough things together and you start to look like an RMT to the STF. Logged in for more then 24 hours, transferring large amounts of gil and / or doing repetitive actions for several hours all contribute to make an account look like a gil farmer and none of them involved third party tools. The STF is looking for gil farmers, that is their job and the whole reason they were formed. I suspect there is a new person running it or some recent internal discussion has generated a big drive to crack down on gil farming which has had the side effect of catching lots of non-Japanese people in the crosshairs. People keep confusing STF bannings with GM bannings, two totally different animals with different policies, and different standards. Nothing will protect you from a GM seeing you do something stupid.
Considering the costs of paying for a VPN they most certainly don't, plus Chinese aren't he primary gil farmers anymore, it's not profitable enough. It's not Filipino's, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Malaysian and a few others. In any case from the STF's point of view, anyone not Japanese is suspect. And if you think that's "outrageous", "not possible", or a big deal then you've never worked with an East Asian company before, it's quite common. Which western gaming source will report on the mass bannings of FFXI? Who in the non-Japanese world would even care? Inside Japan SE has a big brand name, which is why they wont' do anything that could upset or generate ill will from their Japanese customers and gaming media. Those same customers and media don't give a flying fuck about what happens outside their shores.all the chinese RMT use jp registered accounts with full jp information and jp VPNs, it does nothing.
Anyhow people can do whatever they want to do, but if you want to protect your account from random unexplained bannings then get a VPN with an endpoint in Japan. Specifically the POL servers need to believe your connection is initiated from inside Japan.
Did you miss the post about my play time? I NEVER log out. Being logged in isnt "a red flag". Killing mobs for 12 hours non stop is a red flag. Fishing for 12 hours is a red flag. AFKing isnt.
holy shit how much bullshit can you spew in one post?
nothing this guy is saying is true, it's so completely all wrong that it's not even worth pointing out the specific parts
for reference, a vpn is $50 a year and thats for a decent one that you can have 3-4 instances of it at the same time (3-4 machines). you can set up stable ones for less than that.
also even though you were not replying to me, the main thing(possible that it's the only thing) the STF looks at is gil trades/transfers/unusual auction house activity, they don't look at hours logged in at all.
Yeah seriously on my old computer I literally never logged out except when forced out when server went down. This isn't rmt behavior this is normal lazy human behavior. Rmts would actually be doing something during that time (or at least leeching). My play time is over 5 years and that's with several month long absences. My main has never gotten so much as a warning. Most people I know including very casual vanilla players just don't generally log out. Now I suspect this might be different in countries where electricity is expensive like say Germany but that's not everyone
I probably logged out for like a total of 5 hours a month if that when I played and cheated heavily with pretty much everything out there. Absolutely not a flag or I would have had my account perma banned years ago. I also RMTed at least once a month(on my main character even), so there were many traceable activities going on my account if they had any sort of monitoring system for accounts that don't log out.
I can share an anecdote regarding JP bans. I flat out asked in my JP LS whether or not there has been an uptick in Japanese players being banned recently. I told them that NA players had noticed an apparent increase in bannings, and I told them that some folks view JP players as immune to punishment. They answered that yes, they've noticed an increase in "notorious" players being banned and that JP players are not immune. When I suggested that this might have something to do with them wanting folks to move on to XIV, they laughed but did not try to dispute the notion or dissuade me from thinking that way.
Caveats to this: I'm just one dude on one server asking a small LS about larger trends in the game. Like I said, this is an anecdote - not data, so take it with an appropriately-sized grain of salt. Still, thought it worth sharing. I'll also point out, again, that none of this speculation and hearsay would be necessary if SE were to simply communicate with us.
I remember the countless days that my PC would remain on when I last played. If I remained loyal to the game I would probably still do the same because its such a hassle logging in 3+ characters on at a time especially when some are on different tokens all together which was a real pain in the ass having to shuffle between tokens. Spray painting their backs however made it easier to distinguish which token was for what character.
Came home from work and I wasnt banned for AFKing infront of the Salvage entrances. Fuck yeah!!!!!
Clearly you were hacking prior to that greyface.jpg
