Well it lead to a number of people being banned, it lead to a number of people that were incredibly heavy buyers having no need to buy anymore (this is a pretty huge hit), it lead to a number of people who had long-term goals finishing them and now having none left.

It also lead to a huge stock pile that some people will be wanting to sell off cheap to probably RMT. So yeah, pretty bad really.

We already read in this thread of a guy wanting to rmt a mass quantity on one server.

Eh, no one can really store a substantial enough amount of Alexandrite to affect the markets in the long term.

The answer is that it did matter though. It hurt casuals (anyone can farm Salvage) and it benefited hardcores (people who do mythics).

I did not do this, but I knew it had become very widespread when I got two unsolicited PMs about it.

Blue Magic doesn't have a lot of checks, you can force cast Blue Magic on any job.

In retrospect this explains how a lot of people I know were recently able to finish mythics by "selling Delve wins". That's up there with farming fire clusters in Sky.

I think it's pretty fucking remarkable though that this is now the second cheating pandemic related to how intolerably grindy mythics are, and SE presumably knew this when they decided to advance their plan to cement mythics as strictly better than empys or relics with the WS update. Kinda bullshit.

6-10 months to finish Alexandrites playing casually (2 hours per day) is really not that bad any more. If it takes 3-4 months to do a relic, then twice as long for a mythic is not unreasonable. All done solo (or with a 2box). Along the way I even found the time to 119 some of my reforges, do a bunch of delve (not much delve II though), clear most of the new KINMs on D, score a divinator and a few other gear upgrades.

Speaking as someone who finished their mythic recently, it was long, but it wasn't intolerably grindy. If you don't put in the time, you don't deserve the level 3 aftermath...

When you put it that way, spending two hours of your life everyday on mindlessly grinding easy, outdated content in an old, dead game for 6-10 months straight to achieve a single item sounds very reasonable.

I'm a little confused on that math... 6-10 months to farm the alex means averaging 100-166 a day. 100 is certainly easy but averaging 166 implies you are doing 2 runs.

3-4 months for currency would be 125-166 a run... which is rather low even without ilvl gear. And that doesn't even get into the other steps to make and upgrade the relic only take about 2 days while mythic is going to take a lot longer... and while you could do them somewhat concurrently... I doubt you are with farming salvage everyday twice also doing delve 119 weapons and high tier stuff with only 2 hours of play time a day. In all reality assuming you farm each day it should take you more like 2-2.5 months to do a relic.

Then trials are about equally time consuming though the 99 trial is slightly cheaper for relics.

I ran my mule through as well. Not every day, fairly regularly.

According to what? When was this hierarchy instituted? Because I seem to recall various points during FFXI's lifespan where overall Relics or Empyreans were the strongest. And strictly speaking, Empyreans are about as hard to 119 as Mythics, which is reflected poorly at best in their relative strength. SE deciding "Ok mythics are the best now" after years of approximate equity is a load of shit.

If you don't put in the time, you don't deserve the level 3 aftermath...
Demonstrably false. The first mythics ever made were made by people who cheated to get them, and at this point in the game there's probably dozens if not hundreds of mythics created by salvage exploits.

I don't really think that SE ever just decided Mythics > Relics/Empyreans, the game just changed so much that Mythics continually got better. Much like how many Empyreans shined because of Crit properties in a time when abyssea gave Crit, Mythics shine now because of the silly TP gain speed we have. Voidwatch onwards was really the time when having capped Haste started becoming a common thing and keeping up AM3 with capped Haste and increasing amounts of DA/TA/QA/STP/Zanshin/Whatever became easy.

And yet they still found it necessary to upgrade Mythic Aftermath from OAT to OA2-3 and buff its duration.

WS buffs: Mythic > Empyrean (Nothing for Relic)
Aftermath buffs: Mythic > Empyrean (Nothing for Relic)
Jump in power from Magian Trials and Reforge: Mythic > Relic > Empyrean

Dunno how you can look at how Relics and to a lesser extent Empyreans keep getting snubbed and shafted and say it isn't intentional.

The Aftermath and Power changes were a very long time ago, and probably an attempt to balance mythics (which honestly weren't popular at all before OA2-3). I also highly doubt SE even really thought about REMs during the WS buffs, the reason Mythic and Empyrean WSes got buffed and Relic WSes didn't was probably just because Mythic and Empyrean WSes are something everyone has access to and Relic WSes are still the only ones attached to a singular weapon. You could also make the argument that Mythic WSes were bfufed more because they were worse, empyrean WSes were usually already pretty decent, mythic WSes were absolutely terrible post 75.

And cases where this was true were the only mythics kept remotely in check compared to their Relic/Empy counterparts. Now they're strictly better, just like Ryunohige.

I find it hard to believe SE wouldn't foresee "Oh wow, this WS buff made the weapon designed around this WS a lot better".

Maybe not when they first announced it but when relics weren't on the list people asked questions and

So yeah they actually think relic ws are powerful just because they have 80% stat mods despite the fact that it wasn't even in the top 3 most powerful swd ws before the update and now probably isn't in the top 15

I guess the most attractive thing for DD/melee jobs is that Mythics have is that the occ. atk 2-3 can proc on WS's (or that was what I heard time ago)

If you're referring to "Bechyne" (I forgot the exact name you used) which was banned a few months back, you're lying.

I would know, I'm the one who banned you. You had many reports but only one strike for third party tool usage, and you fell for the second one (I gave you both, I think you got the first one in 2013, like exactly one year before, it was funny).

Anyway, things are rather simple when it comes to being banned or not, but there are indeed some exceptions of people not being banned when they should be. I forgot his name but there was a player who got 3 warnings, 2 three days bans and he was still not gone. That's just GMs being retarded, simple. If we are to follow the policies, you are allowed unlimited warnings, 1/2 one day ban, one and only one 3 days ban and then you're gone if you do anything serious. You may be given more warnings if you do something mild, but if it's serious enough to warrant a suspension, it's good bye.

5 and 7 days stuff are cases where Japan is being retarded. I'm not going to go into details as I'm not allowed to but, the punishments are as follow: Caution, Warning, 24h, 48h (never used, ever), 72h, perma.

I forgot the exact reason but SE usually tries to find a way to fix an exploit before punishing players for it. Or else they'd have to punish even more players. JP mentality.

    Not true.

BGs has been requested by SE to hand over information at least once and there was a Galka guy (forgot his name, few years old) that got banned just because of the screenshots of him exploiting he posted here.

Some employees do not give a shit and read BG for other reasons than to ban random people, but some other employees will hunt you down if you're not smart. And you won't win if they do.

tbh mythics were previously very weak for the amount of tasks you had to fullfill to get one, makeing them the strongest weapon was a good choice. However because there was so much alexandrites "duped" into the servers (years ago and now) I am not sure what that means for future content design. Also it flags for SE that mythics are achievable by anyone when so many are completed and that they dont need to adjust anything in the process of obtaining alexandrite.

In any case it doesnt matter, any update a weapon could be released that might come close to them or be better (Delve 1.0 GkT anyone? not better then mythic, but better then relic and empy).

as for empys, i think we are getting sooner or later voidwatch 2.0 and the HMP cinders/dross market will rise again.
