Did they get temps for using the program or not responding to GM tells while killing stuff? Because if temp because you didn't respond that's your fault but if they just temped with no way to really know it was being used that would be lack of verifying

Can GMs still send you a tell if you're currently set to "Away"? When you're in that mode normally other players cannot send you tells

Don't believe they missed any tells but my bet is if the GM's used the same 'are you here' box that was used for fishing then that was probably missed. Also I should add that this ban didn't go after every player doing this. Plenty of people were left alone in the same zones these two temp bans were from.

people have been banned using just about every melee bot program/script, it sounds like that is what they are targeting. it doesn't appear to be anything related to /tells

again if you don't want to get banned stop using them until things die down, they seem to be going server to server and making sweeps.

ban duration depends on your previous strikes, if you've already gotten a 3 day for something before (i.e most recent salvage bans) you will be perma'd.

I haven't gotten one recently but in past they have sent me ones while I was set to away

Was the box thing ever actually proven? And yeah I know currently running right now lol. Then again I was talking to a GM just the other day while reiving for something completely unrelated so maybe that erased some suspicion lol

Well I meant was it ever proven as a primary method of determining afkness? Iirc there was proof that it was available to GMs but rarely used and always after tells failed. Actually I think I had a GM allude to something like that when they once asked me to respond and I asked what they would do if I didn't have a keyboard and they said they had ways of asking that would work without one.

So the people who POS hacked and exploited a salvage glitch to generate thousands of alexandrite daily got a 3 day vacation. Meanwhile, this guy made a brand new character, ran it up vomp hill, never even pulled weapon out, called a GM on him for botting from his own main account, and that account is now banned.

Makes sense? Nope. I'm not complaining about the lack of salvage bans, I'm just really wondering what the fuck is going on at SE HQ that they'll ban people because "hey he's botting" without looking into it.

Its possible, or what he's saying is true, SE's getting a "hey he's botting" report, and are just banning them. A couple other people previously made that claim, and he was just testing the theory.

also on a brand new account there wouldn't be any credit card associated with it, and if someone works at SE/knows better they can correct me but from personal experience SE does not ban by IP or credit card anymore they are only flagging factors.

They do ban by SE account though so if you have multiple accounts on one SE account all get the same punishment.

Generally they ban by SE account rather than credit card (wider), POL ID (narrower), or specific character (narrowest). I've heard of them banning by credit card or deleting specific characters, but those are they exceptions rather than the rule afaik.
