A couple of other people reported the same, between FFXIAH and BG.
I have no means to tell if they're lying or not of course... I find it strange as well if you ask me.
The whole "SE is banning without checking the reports they receive" sounds ridiculous and I already said plenty of times I'm not buying it.
Still, so many people are reporting it that I'm kinda starting to believe it might be true =/

Because it is true.
I know someone who only did it because they had no offenses so they figured they get what they want with a three day holiday and it was a quick perma ban.

SE logic:
10k alex a day? Temp ban!
1.5k alex a day for more work? YOU DISGUST ME GET OFF OUR GAME NOW, PERMA!

Hey Judgement, thanks for reporting cheaters and getting them permaban. Need more people like you. Never understood people that cheats if they found ffxi so awful without cheating. They should use there cheats and exploits on a private server among other cheaters.

Personally I place the blame on SE for this once again just like with the first dupe where they could have just fixed the issue. The typical moral fags that go "CEETERSSUXORZHARHARHAR" can smile their little hearts out.

They know it happens, they TEMP ban people for it, and prevent the NMs from respawning instead of preventing the whole floor from respawning so what happens? The obvious result they would have had to hope for because it would certainly happen. That people do the same thing they just half ass fixed.

Really didn't want to comment, but blaming SE for people exploiting shit, seriously? This game is the least time consuming it has ever been in its history and people are botting and hacking as much, if not a bit more, than ever before. It's fucking stupid.

The second time SE reacts harsher to something less significant because they didn't fix the problem then I completely blame them the second time. I do not see what is so bullshit about that.

To me, I think SE created this situation themselves and that obtaining alex for the most part is completely unbalanced. This is part of what cause people to want to cheat the system. At this late in the game's life, SE really needs to rethink salvage and make adjustments so that previous glitches/exploits are patched and upping the alex rate. I don't even think people would mind a mechanism where defeating the Boss caused respawnable gears to pop on the lower floors and you are given the opportunity to port down to a lower floor to farm them.

by all means if the exploit was doable without any 3rd pt/hacking tools i would agree, but alas its not. Its only doable if you use tools, so the blame there isnt on SE but the players that used those tools to do those things.

The only thing i agree with you is that the bans werent consistent, that is a major flaw yes.

What else is new over there? Might as well stifle a shrinking base by feeling that deleting threads with the worst kept modern secret is somehow a meaningful moderation.

It is not like I commend the people for doing what they did or feel a mythic is some unfair <insert poor argument here>. It is that SE banned for this, and didn't fix the issue that is very fixable. So when people did the same exact thing the same exact way for the same exact thing. Only an idiot would have to think that people would have not done the same thing again. If SE knows about an exploit and bans people instead of simply fixing it then it is simply SE's fault.
If someone breaks into your house through a broken window you get it fixed. When someone breaks back in a second time through that broken window because you did not fix it you don't blame someone else for your carelessness at that point because you were well aware of the issue.

There's just as much blame on the players as there is on SE. SE should have actually fixed the problem of course. Just because it wasn't fixed doesn't make it a free for all for the players. They cheated full well knowing that SE was likely still watching those zones and had banned people for cheating in the past (temp or perma doesn't matter). That's like speeding past a cop you know is running radar. You might get away with it, but it's still a dumb idea.

key word everyone was surprised, meaning they expected them to perma ban. the fact of the matter is it was probably too wide spread compared to what is happening now and SE didn't want to lose more of their dwindling playerbase

Underestimating human nature or frankly ignoring it is irresponsible regardless of the person performing the action of malice being in the wrong. Everyone wants your lunch so no its never safe. Such should be expected, and for some reason it is not.

Difference between my lame analogy and this is everyone loses because SE was lazy and I might as well call it their utter carelessness.
They now have less customers (this matters much more now than it ever did at 75 cap bans) and good people are gone. I am not talking about that RMT that gets banned 50 times and does it again, no one cares.
I am talking friends who had a lack of compelling reasons to play. We all know these people, and we know why they did it. Them being on game is worth more than all the meaningless things in this game like a mythic that means nothing more than some parse numbers and sentimental value.

Honestly, most of the time that I see people bitch about some people using third party tools to do something that either did not effect them or had no meaningful impact on them that they don't truly like people more than a video game. Similar to people who condone others being thrown in jail for recreation drug use when it doesn't even have anything to do with them.

This isn't NPCing fish so I would agrue it does not make a meaningful impact on the economy. It is not like if all the existing gil changing hands from alex went away people would go "oh I am not paying xx for xx anymore because of the alex". It is not like the average item is going to cost more because of tons of alex coming in. Even the ele rings +1 have gone down significantly in price regardless of all the alexandrite from both exploits. All this has done is make alex cost less and people buy more things so it does what? Hurt legitimate farmers who get away with faster money than boring dynamis? Woah!

The RMTs will come right back, and the real players will not.
