This was their first official post of the numbers. The test server numbers were 250/500/1k I believe. So the people that are saying here that the forum complaints are what lowered the REM to current values, I think they're off base?

Everyone wants to think if they take action they have an impact. This way they don't have to feel bad when the impact they make can't be registered meaningfully.

Dude, read. The initial complaints started because of the numbers SE put on the test server. Everyone was hush hush about the 1500 HMP's because "well thats just a placeholder, theres no way theyre going to want 1500 of an item unless its a pretty common drop". Nope, HMP's came out, and everyone found out that their drop rate isnt nowhere near what they expected. So when they saw 250 Marrows on the test server, they came out bitching because the playerbase wasnt going to have that shit again.

Personally, I always thought that SE did this to "balance" the weapons because at the time emperians were so powerful for not much work compared to relics and mythics, and they had to 180 their obtainment ease. Not like people don't still complain to SE on their forums about HMP complete with comments back.

I think part of that is the playerbase fault also because if you didnt have a 90 emp, you were a scrub for the reason of how easy they were to get, to the point where everyone was laughing at how easy they were.

I hear what you're saying Nynja, but I also think SE's choice of number of items for these trials was independent of what the playerbase had to say about it. The 1500 plates makes sense give how easy and cheap 90 Emps were to make compared to Relics and Mythics. I don't think the playerbase overturned anything with their outcries but they can assume so since there was an evident change;however it could had been Square's idea all along. To assume that had the playerbase not intervened that the 200 marrow for nq 99 would be released is kind of fallacious.

That's pretty much what it is. Relics from 85 to 99 required 15 NM kills and 5 items while Emps 85 to 99 required in total 1635 items (75/1500/60). Camate even said on the OF that Emps would be the most difficult to upgrade to 99.

So when people saw 250 marrows, of course they jumped out guns blazing.
they actually stated they wanted the last upgrade to be a challenge again and only a handfull of people able to complete them, and then people raged massivly, so they introduced the afterglow weapons, so people that want a challenge can go for that. mind you this was still during tanaka time when he came back after abyssea and voidfrustration was introduced, frustrateing people at beginning off with its droprates (not to mention the 1500 HMP). The rage was overboard and justified, because of so much shit people had to swallow when abyssea was over.

At least thats how i remember it.

Just adding my two cents here since any other thread keeping track of the bans gets locked elsewhere cause of reasons. Most (all?) of the bans I've seen mentioned have been for Salvage exploits. Had an LS mate that botted reives or easy CP mobs for the past maybe 6-8ish months catch the ban stick today.

I had two accounts get temp'd. I assume it was for farming CP, but I was in town 2+ days idle before the ban actualy happened. Adding to this, only 2 of the 6 accounts that where in the party farming got banned. I've only entered salvage v2 on one of the temp'd accounts and that was when it came out.

Adding as well as I haven't played this for around 4 years, but my second account was banned due to "rmt". I'll be straight up and say yes I did rmt, but I did it on my main only(alt was borrowed from a friend so I didn't want to harm their account). I was very surprised when that account was banned so I sold my main and moved on. In other words, SE is the bullshit and no one should be surprised on anything they do.

He was silly enough to CP bot trash mandys outside of Adoulin in plain sight of everyone. I am sure he got an absolutely massive amount of reports.

Oh man that is slow as heck. If I was going to do that and had to fight trash (like say on a mule without great DD gear) I'd at least try foret or morimar

Yes, there is. If it's trash without double CP, it's trash after also.

Even when like, say, 100 people manage to agree on the official forums on the issue "XXX" there are always goin to be hordes of whiteknights or contrarians who just like to argue against even the best of idea saying that "things are working as intended" and demand people stop talking about it.

The few times when this didn't happen, SE was forced to take action.
I can think of one circumstance over the history of FFXI when this happened: the lack of RME updates post SoA launch. SE wanted to devaluate RMEs because they didn't like people focusing too much on them, they didn't like them becoming such a vital part of the game's economy/balance, they didn't like the gap with other players and them becoming necessary for people to access to events etc.
Such a major outburst of rage happened, in both the US/EU and JP forums, that Devs were kinda forced to take back their position and put an unplanned RME update change in their plans.

There might be other situations I can't remember, but my point is that I can see it possible to make Devs change their mind, as rare as it may be. It just happens so rarely because players fail to come together for a common goal.
I only wish people had come together when the HMPs for the Emps were set so fucking high. I mean shit, 50 > 50 > 75 > and then 1500?!?!? What makes it worse even now is that HMPs are in such low supply since nobody really hardly does VW outside of maybe Kaggen or Pil for synth mats and even then that's nothing compared to when VW was at it's high. SE really needs to get on the ball with either dropping the required amount or give us a much easier to deal with source for those things.

This naive desire people have to feel that they can make SE change things to a consensus no one can or will ever reach and impact a change for the better. Is really out of hand because not only was SE not going to change the HMPs no matter how much people think they can come together, rise up, and overcome. But that people still complain about HMPs especially now that it is harder to get them than it was when it came out, and still SE has done nothing directly. Pretty sure they responded to a thread about making HMPs easier to get awhile ago, but trying to dig these things up is a huge waste of time.

It doesn't change the fact that it's terribly fucking outdated now. The whole reforge system by putting VW drops as one of the items needed to upgrade was a band-aid more then anything to a problem which was stupid to begin with. Like Nynja said, if people had known SE was going to drop 1500 plates as the actual cost from 90 to 95, people would have bitched hard but the damage was already done. The last response from a mod on the OF was them looking into another way of sourcing HMPs but that was fucking months and months ago.

People did bitch hard. My point was people keep holding on to this delusion that if we all bitch about something then SE will just have no choice other than to change it.

Anything takes SE months and months. Sorta like the history of avatars
