never had any warnings, can't say exactly what they were botting for privacy reasons but it wasn't anything that gets you CP and they had never done salvage.
no box, no /tell

Maybe they're looking at active processes now, despite the "GM" on AH saying "they never will"? I mean, banning someone for being a potential bot without even trying to validate the presence of a human is pretty fucked.
Well depending on what it was it might have been more obvious guess we'll never know. Might also depend on how good the bot was if other tests might have revealed it. Like the pulling a botter with an unclaimed mob test lol
Deleted the post.
Whelp guess it's time to definitely not do anything that will you can see in game or show up in logs. No speed hacks no pos no dumb farm bots no farming for too many hours. And obviously no major exploits.
Based on time of day of bans and lack of warnings and lag between when stuff was done it sounds like these are stf not GMs and hope you aren't currently already being investigated. I'd also probably say that the guy who says reported himself is either lying, unlucky, or the GM knew it was his own account (though he shouldn't since they aren't supposed to have player info) and was messing with him. Might just have been messing anyways given it was obviously false
Thats kinda the problem though. Thats like the popo watching you enter a bar at 6pm to watch the game, then stick around with your friends till 2am, and they automatically arrest you as you enter your car to drive you drunk friends home because they're presuming you're drunk, without questioning you or using a breathalyzer, just because you were in a bar for 8 hours.
they aren't legally obligated to check if you're actually using a program or not, it's their game they can ban whoever they want.
with that being said, there have still been very few(if any) false positives.
just don't bot and you won't get banned it's as simple as that
Random story on that lines. Had a guy I worked with live 1 block away from a bar... he knew a lot of coworkers were getting drunk so he drove to see if any needed a DD and had 1 beer and went to go home. Cop pulled him over he passed the breathalyzer so they took him in for a blood test... waited long enough till his BAC would be at it's max still only .02... but they decided to "calculate" what his BAC would've been back when he had been driving so used the assumption that he was at his peak back then and had been going down since then even though they knew it was BS. Of course this is the real so that shit didn't fly for very long because of the massive repercussion that would've resulted from that but did happen. But in the game they only have to worry about alienating customers and they probably figure they wont lose hardly anything doing this kind of BS because let's face it who is gunna quit over these reports?
i don't know how that's a woosh at all.
are you new to games...?
no GM on WoW will send you a /tell before banning you for botting, no FFXI GM has ever been expected to send you a /tell before banning you for botting. i have never heard of game where GMs go out of their way to give you as many chances as possible to stop your bot.
i bot, i will continue to bot, but i'm still confused why people in this thread think that they should be able to get away with it with no repercussions just because they had been able to in the past.
also the false positive(note i am talking about botting in this entire post, the person who had a false positive for RMT that is totally different and totally different people handle it @ SE) has no proof and the person seemed like someone who was just being an epic troll.
yeah it's shitty, but complaining about it just means you're botting and SE is doing their job banning you
Not new to anything, and I am not saying anyone should have a warning before hand.
Frankly I just find it annoyingly asinine when someone has to go and throw the word legally around in something silly like a game with this topic. Especially when everyone and their mother knows SE has us agree that they can do whatever they want.
Complaining about it means someone is botting? What sort of fucking logic is that? I am not botting, I never have, and I never will. I think I am certainly complaining too, and if it is not clear I have never been permaed either. I had a temp was for shouting "jew" to a jewish friend in PJ years ago.
Can anyone confirm for me if being banned from FFXI gets you banned from FFXIV? Urge to return to FFXI for a bit, but if there's actually an increase in bans for third party tools I'd rather not get all of my shit banned from both games. I half expect it to be inconsistent, but curious if anyone has experienced being banned from FFXI but playing FFXIV on the same SE Account. I've already gotten 3-day'd from FFXI before, and I play FFXIV 99% legit whereas I use whatever's available for FFXI.
Odd that salvage duping and fish botting went ignored for a good while but jp botting which is harmless to the economy, like skillups results in permabans. I'd wager 80-85% of all REM were purchased with Hakryu gil yet pretty much none of them were banned. Trillions of gil generated over 5-6 years from fishbots and no actions taken. But god forbid people bot to get JP, which affects nobody but themselves, perma ban? People who duped alex got a 3 day suspension but got to keep their millions of gil and all their alex. Does not compute.
It can but it's not 100%... if you can put them on the same SE account and did it's probably more likely but otherwise I don't think as likely. When I was talking to one guy about my ban he actually told me I could play ffxiv... but said I might get banned for association sometime in the future
While I agree I think you overestimate Hakryus lol. Years of fishing it and even fishing up the fish for people to make it and a lot of the time beau was empty... and when it started getting full bait started being a limiting factor. Think cruor bots (or even "legit" cruor farmers with a ton of mules) had a greater effect. I was talking to one guy who was telling me he'd leave his bot running for a week then cash in the blinkers over the course of an hour or so and in that time he made more gil than you'd make in 4 months of doing hak's... as well as any mules you happened to have with you. Had a friend that was legitly farming cruor with a bunch of mules making a billion+ a month
rip salvage dupers, crashed the server
This is where I wish SE would go "welp, servers are down, lets do the patch now!"
CP botting should not be an insta-ban unless you had a previous infraction. I have known a few people who were just kicked for 3-4 days because they were using apps to get CP, but otherwise had a clean record. additionally, the ~half a million gil you bring into the market for capping sparks is a highly inefficient way of making gil. to do it remotely efficiently you need an actual human being at the helm.
