i'm really curious about all these claiming to be banned for doing nothing. I leave my mule in various places. logged in pretty much 24/7 since 05 and absolutely nothing. I even leave him afk in various zones if I decide to go to bed and i'm too lazy to use my warp ring.
Granted he doesn't say what he was doing.
Still haven't seen anyone actually say they've been banned "for doing nothing" and actually doing nothing, except for the guy on FFXIAH that claimed to have gotten banned (temp? idk), creating a new account and character, GMing that character on some separate account, then getting the new character banned. Linked CC/IP, idk, idc, one brand new lvl 1 mule standing in the middle of a dead zone. Wouldn't surprise me if SE just assumed the character was up to no good since any legitimate player would had done something.
But really is more than 1% of any forum playing 100% legit? And getting banned for the wrong thing is effectively the same as for nothing
This is just silly though. I mean, IRL, legally, sure, such a thing wouldn't hold up in court or anything. But this isn't IRL, it's not court. No such thing as "I was banned for the wrong thing" unless you truly were doing nothing at all to break the ToS. And even then, they can, and very well might, ban you at any time for nothing at all.
I get the fear from "SE is banning at random" but in every case presented, the banned come out and say "well I wassss doing this other thing that's bannable..." That doesn't hint at randomness, that hints at not giving a fuck about what the email/messages say, which is nothing new at all for them.
Yeah, but they could ban essentially everyone on the forums and be perfectly within your logic.
It's not silly it's logic which works the same irl as on the internet. Now sure they can ban for whatever. But saying there is no such thing as being ban for the wrong thing is a statement I don't even have words for. The reason that kind of statement doesn't work for anything (even none legal matters) in the real world is because it doesn't work. The internet isn't some magical land where the rules of logic are suspend just a place where some act like they are
Except most have come out and said that there was nothing that could be confirmed. That doesn't just hint at them not knowing but kinda proves it. The only thing that people happening to have been doing something wrong proves is how much of the population that is on the forums isn't don't 100% uphold the ToS. Hell byrth just got banned from the forums for telling them how to fix the fishing problem. You know that testing we did for Idris? Technically against the ToS. By your logic they could "confirm" you are an rmt and ban you because well you violated 1 part of the ToS. The entire mathy parts section is against the ToS
i feel bad for people who have only dealt with SEs customer service/disciplinary actions.
every other company is far more forgiving and far more insightful, they really just don't want you to play their game.
mosth other companies also generally tell you exactly why you got banned
Well, I've called a GM and reported to the STF (twice) a botter on my server and they have yet to disappear for any period of time. And it's pretty easy to see they're botting by paying any bit of attention, not just in how their characters move but with 24/7 activity and the like. So if SE is going crazy banning everyone why aren't they banning certain botters along with it?
The bans seem to come in waves and I'd be unsurprised if SE was working through a massive backlog of reports. Be patient and they'll probably disappear at some point.
Someone on the ah posted his emails corresponding to it and yeah it said it was part of a mass action.
And yeah if they don't end up banning some obvious and actually reported ones could hint at this being somewhat random or based on something weird like not actually actions but maybe how much jp or balyd or whatever you gained
They guy I reported is in Kamihr about 5 nights a week all night, and his entire AH history is now selling various skirmish parts. I was in a LS with him and called him out on it and he gave wonderful arguments such as: "It's impossible to finish without botting" and "you're just jealous because you can't figure out how to do it". The entire LS is aware he bots, and I doubt I'm the only one that has reported him. So if he's not gone in another month or so I'll be questioning how they do their banning entirely.
I think they do it about once a month. We had someone who botted reives *hard* for over a month get banned a few nights back.
How do u bot Reive?
It's not really that HP Bayld is in short supply... It's that there's cumulative stupids running rampant with it in the community.
Stu1: Ergon weapons for other jobs. (This increases the perceived value of HPBs because people are dumb and think everyone will have Ergons so they don't want to give up any they might have for when the other jobs get Ergons.)
Stu2: Doesn't know how to convert Bayld to HPB. (This isn't really stupidity, just ignorance. But it
Doesn't help things when you have people sitting on huge piles of Bayld with nothing to do with it.)
Stu3: Won't convert Bayld since it could be used for something later. (Similar to 1 but with its own unique hangups. We can thank the social conditioning of releasing new content frequently so that Bayld's perceived value increases to the point of scarcity that it could one day be needed... Even though that ignores the fact that that day is now with HPBs.)
And that's not even factoring in the low demand for HPBs.
20 jobs want alexandrite.
2 jobs want HPBs.
It's no different for why HMPs are still +100k even though only two jobs have any real reason to buy them. (Cause Empyrean weapons are super shit now. They really could use that +30%dmg matched WS Relics have...)
But more importantly than all of that...
How is this thread still going!?!?
I've gotten a bunch of people banned for botting job points at the butterfly camps in Outer Ra'Kaznar. Pisses me off because one person will take up the camp 24/7 for days at a time.
It's +40%, and if they gave that to Empyreans they'd have to either nerf Rudra's or exempt Twastar because it's already stupidly OP at it is.
