Important question: did you ever (at any time) use maintenance mode?
Important question: did you ever (at any time) use maintenance mode?
No, everything but speed was set to disabled.
I just remembered that when I first came back I loaded up an old version of Cupper that didn't work, but caused my weapon to fall to the floor. I didn't turn on maint mode with that either.
Okay, so the thought that the bans are tied directly to the maint button seems to be out the window.
Fuck.
69 PAGES?!?!?!?!?!?!?
3 accounts, 1 lvl1 char that I never used for anything but duping. 2 full time chars that used clipper @200% every time I stepped outside and no one was around. JA0 on 1. Only bot I ever used was Cure Please. Never did salvage or nyzul. Used gs on both. Always played solo. 1 of my full time chars perma ban on first offense. All on different ID. Reason for ban was botting. Funny thing is, the account that was banned is not the account that ran cure please. Maybe they assumed that without the char I put the most time into, I wouldn't play the others... I was about to terminate all 3 because of boredom, guess they helped me do it sooner then later.
Your ban was from a fully automated system. The same deal that gives the "You must wait longer before entering the next area." message and denies your zone crossing.
If you are running, you get the message and have to log out/in to clear it. If you pos warped across the zone you bypass the message and get to zone to the next area. Within an hour or so you'll dc, reloging and you're banned.
Happened to a friend at 5am on his way to pop some Pwardens. Was zero people in the whole region.
Duping?
probably pretending to get hacked and rolling it back
That does sound similar to what happened to me. However, I warped in front on the zone line and ran into it, getting the "You must wait..." message before logging out and back in. I didn't bypass that. It was around 1am and I suspect an empty zone though.
Not worth it and kind of irksome because who am I hurting by getting an ancient mission done faster?
Had the same message in RoMaeve about 1.5 weeks ago.
So sounds like clipping warping etc is being cracked down hard?
And JA0, which honestly I don't understand you people saying is a deal breaker.
Getting used to moving faster (all that time saved!!) and being able to move past obstacles/frustration in the way (SSG or Halvung for example is a real nightmare if you are not rather familiar with the zone breakdown, and still need the KI or a pt) is such a big deal compared to moving while using abilities.
I had received the "you must wait longer" message hundreds of times
throughout the years. First time I got it I was nervous. Then nothing happened.
Then it became daily, I just wrote it off and thought it was a client side timer.
If it is server side that would explain why my main got banned and not the alt.
Yes. Roommate wrote a program that attached to char same way clipper does.
100% sure we are only people to have it. He quit in 08 and I have played on and off
Since NA release. I won't share program, and I have no idea the technical details, all
I will say is it involves AH transactions. I was very careful with it and made sure not
to get greedy. Used it to clone small items I would then sell later on 1 of my other chars.
Used it a lot when Gil was harder to make, but since seekers, there hasn't been a need.
I remember hearing and reading about the dbox duping way back in the day, and I think there was an AH one too. So it doesn't surprise me you can use the AH for such things. I also wouldn't say you are the only ones who have it. It is not that unlikely someone else with more motivation (dolla dolla bill y'all) could have done something similar.
I think that is it. Back in 2004-2007 or so they had an automated system that would tag you for zoning too fast, then they seemed to turn it off or ignore it. Seems like they are using/paying attention to it now. I warp all over, use maintenance to get through doors, but I wait on the zone timer out of habit from a temp in 2005.
Kind of depends on the situation. Not that anyone does it anymore but could make or break kiting fights. And can make a huge difference in time sensitive mass killing stuff like NNI which people are actually doing now because of the campaign. On other hand people were doing it legitly with force blinking before JA0 ever came out
Yeah, but that still isn't a deal breaker, movement speed matters most in those situations.
We have been doing the NNI event (rank 2 mog bonanza furnishing dropped). So last night I noticed someone was using JA0 (but not clippering oddly enough) and I had to go "you do know what is going on lately, right?".
