Yeah, we had a fare share of the could not be bothered to farm zeni for the salt on a T4 day people. We farmed them extra plates. At 75 the rewards were there - could sell hachiryu gear and some of those weapons for a fair bit. Nowadays the only ZNM you might want help for is PW.

could never stand Zeni. I was staying offline on purpose sometimes if event was ZNM because I couldn't be arsed to farm those pics.
(back then I couldn't do it alone efficiently, I had to rely on other friends to sleep stuff etc)

Zeni got pretty easy to get once Abyssea came out. Naul mobs in Tahronghi-A give 700-1k zeni per plate, IIRC.

Sorta. Naul mobs originally gave around 100ish which was higher than even targeted stuff but not much more than high lvl dragons I'd do in mount Z. Then awhile back they vastly increased the amount of zeni pretty much everything gives and nauls went up to around 1600 but like random elementals in sky also give a good 400

Hachiryu does indeed look cool for lockstyle! On SAM I like Relic head and 4/4 Hachiryu set. And the reason I just pulled all the Hachi stuff out in the last couple weeks was to find something that is a good match for Nocturnus Mail/Helm.

You do look pretty spiffy. Back before lockstyle, my townstyle used to be 4/4 hachiryu and opo-crown. The golds don't match up exactly, but it's close enough.

Theres no way to tell if thats a first infraction though or not, considering SE's first infractions are 3 days...if they dont just give a warning lol. How many people were saying shit like "well atleast I got to spend the weekend outside" when they were given 3-days for getting a months worth of mythic in 1 hour?

Yes, so now we've got two examples of ways in which SE can react better than just outright banning. Longer tempbans and cheaters-only servers. Both ways wind up with more money in their pockets and more goodwill from their fanbase than outright bans. But for SE to behave in such a way isn't very likely and I don't think any of us expect it.

Oh, certainly. Personally, I think permabanning should largely be reserved for malicious behavior. Otherwise, start with 24 hour suspensions and start building per infraction, or roll back the account, depending on the nature of the complaint. Then let the account reset over time for good behavior, which seems like another thing SE's system isn't good about.

Well SE is anything but consistent. Sure some get a warning or 3 day on the other hand they've also been flat out banning people recently.

Though my point wasn't to say instead of banning. It's a punishment that is severe enough you can't just say well thanks for the vacation but still allows you to eventually play again. A way of saying hey we are serious about these rues but we still want your patronage

Isn't that basically what private servers are? Maybe some are legit as can be stuck at lv.75 hnm? Not sure how much fun it'd be missing sooo much content though. Seems they don't have toua or anything that came after.

Last time I researched private servers (several years ago) they weren't just missing content... but for the content they had, they were missing a great deal of server-side logic. The gameplay just didn't feel right. No, the reason why we're here on an external forum discussing this stuff is because like or not we care about this dumb game. An ideal situation would be for SE to find a way to make peace with this aspect of their player base, keep getting paid to do so, and keep maintaining (and gasp! maybe even updating!) the PC client going forward. Part of me wishes that the reason we haven't seen the UI update to the client yet is because they knew they'd have to make this decision to drop ps2/360 and they wanted to wait to launch the new UI and stuff until afterwards so it's PC-onry. This is me, not holding my breath.

it varied, the majority of people unless they were also suspected of RMT were only given a 6 month ban.

my main account was actually hit in this ban wave by blizzard for a 6month ban, it's a 10+ year old account.

the reason for the bans wasn't strictly because they just "felt like it" or "showing off" the major bot company won a lawsuit that blizzard was attempting to bring against them, i don't have the link but you could find it via googling. they were striking back at the bot company

How did they detect it, though? I see that the bots required the 32-bit client, but that isn't proof of guilt. Was Blizzard scanning active processes?

Some of my friends got suspended and most of them were on first infraction.
WoW didn't see a big wave of banning since TBC, that's like what, 7+ years ago? So it was a bit like an earthquake.

Things in WoW work differently. Normally You'd get a 1day then 3 days then permaban. This was their policies for bans under reports and automatic tools. If a real live GM was catching you live doing something wrong, it was insta permaban without passing from the previous 2 steps.
Permabans could also be reversed if you were able to demonstrate (or pretend...) your account was hacked by an RMT. Friend of mine (who was actually botting and RMTing... lol) logged from chinese IPs and VPNs and managed to convince a mentally challenged GM that he got hacked, and he received his account back.
That would never happen with SE, no matter if you're right or wrong, they just don't listen to you once a ban has happened.


6 months ban with how WoW works will become pretty much a perma ban for many of those people btw.
