Is there any actual source of development stating their ignorance to Hakuryu, or are you just assuming based on the time frame? Designing around the assumption that everyone is going to be fish botting is a slippery slope, and given that it technically wasn't anything game breaking, they implemented the change how most development teams would, by rolling it out with the crafting system revision.

I can guarantee they knew. I had talks with GMs twice in the glacier saying they were doing a sweep of the entire zone for fish bots several years back

You'd be surprised. I actually watched them once. Couldn't really follow since they were leaving server than coming back in other places in weird ways but I did get to see some people disappear. Granted most didn't like after an hour only 10% were gone. Regardless they did seem aware of it

Just been hit with a 72 hour. Had a program downloaded but not used yet. Downloaded something 2 days ago, hit with 72 hour ban this morning. Never used a tool on this account, called a Gm on some rmt botting in cirdas last night. Such fucking bullshit.

This could be it. My last account was banned for blatant speed hacking but this was 2+ years ago. I started a new account afterwards, couldn't find it in myself to do everything again so took a break. I started my account back up 4 weeks ago. Found out 2 days ago about a programme that was free that offered movement speed. I downloaded the program, and was going to use it "softly" I.e 12.5% / 25% with no one around to get CoP done. Didn't have time since I downloaded it to use it, it's still sat on my comp waiting for me to rename a file so it works with windower.

I have no issue being banned for something I did, I deserved my last ban - 300% in aldouin isn't clever. The only thing this could be is same card details or the rumours are true and mass reports is insta ban. I only called the GM on the rmt last night, if they made mass reports.... Maybe I'm tinfoil hatting it. Either way the program will be deleted tonight and hopefully they don't turn the temp into a perma.

Annoying thing, they only took the second payment on the account yesterday or the day before.

Highly doubt it was for previous ban, it was most likely that you used it or you aren't saying anything. Makes 0 sense for them to issue a temp for just downloading something without using it or a previous ban (which they would just perma ban you).

Banned 2 years ago... It's a long time to be fair. And Iv been back for a month so not quite straight away. I just wanted to move through CoP a little quicker. Anyways I probably shouldn't have said anything and realised no one would have believed me. I would honestly just say to everyone, don't even download any programs. Just incase.

I really hope SE reads this thread. The damage dealt to the community by this auto-banning system is terrible. I've never seen such vitriolic actions in an FFXI community, and I've been around for a very long time.

Addendum: I concede on denying the auto-banning system. It's the only thing that makes sense at this point. Yes, you heard it. I admitted I was wrong. See Byrth? I did it. Everyone see? Good.

Yeah the whole just downloaded thing is probably just coincidence. Scanning your computer for what you download is just a whole new lol of crazy. Plus technically not violating till you use it. Probably what happened is when you made your report they did a quick check on you and were like shit this guy was already banned ban him again. I'm sure they are getting some false reports at this point that they'd consider checking the source

He wouldn't get a 72 hour for a previous CC offense. If he was permaed before and they tracked him, there's literally no reason not to perma again.

My guess is he talked/asked about it ingame, or said something stupid. Or lied. People do that a lot.

You definitely did not get banned for downloading said program. I know people who keep their speed at 120% who have not been banned ever - so the act of downloading it alone wouldn't do it. I'm not sure just talking about programs in game is a bannable offense? A lot of people in linkshell chat used to talk about programs and those people never got banned either.

That's exactly what they do. Take payment, check for violations, banstick. It's supposed to rub salt in your wounds for being dumb enough to come back with the same details as a known banned player.

And the most lulzworthy part of it is you were dumb enough to load a speedhack program for FFXI on your computer when you came back. Just. Don't Fucking. Cheat. Even "a little". At this point, they'll just boot you from FFXI and not give a shit.

The ban system is basically cancer surgery. Curing cancer inevitably means damaging healthy parts of the system, but the alternative is worse.

It's fun seeing people try to sneak back in and "just cheat a little". And then bitch about being banned. Or S-E figuring out they permabanned you when you started a new account and making it obvious by telling you to GTFO again with another application of the banhammer. Giving them more money doesn't magically get you forgiven for doing something so offensive to the system that you got tossed out on your ass the first time.

You know what damages the community? People who keep coming back and doing shit that S-E would ban them for in the first place. Either come back and play clean (ha!) or GTFO and stop whining about how the bad ol' game actually enforced it's own rules and recognized you trying to sneak back in after they kicked your ass out.

According to SE, 72PB implies review for termination. So basically, if you see a 72PB and know you're likely to get terminated, you'll probably get terminated. Addationally, what reason is there to come onto a third-party site just to lie? SE has been known to blacklist by payment information in the past. And I can put down money that this is exactly what happened here.
