Could I ask for a Grandia series remaster?
Could I ask for a Grandia series remaster?
i like the idea of an HD collection, but if it happens, there's absolutely no way they'll devote any resources to overhauling the XS2 battle system. considering the limited commercial appeal for a release like this, i'm honestly astounded they're even bothering to research its potential. i'd definitely buy it if it happened though, even knowing i'll probably never have the time to devote to playing 1+3 again.
the best realistic case would be a straight port of XS2 with an option to just skip the game part and view the story cutscenes (which wouldn't be unprecedented; the XS2 preorder bonus was a DVD copy of the same from the first game. i'm still not sure why XS3 didn't get the same treatment).
What was that? I don't remember any serious changes aside of some cutscene censorship. Or are we talking about the differences between first two games on PS2 and Xenosaga I & II on DS? Because yeah, I'd be cool to get the updated story but it seems unlikely.
Oh, and they could also add Pied Piper in one form or another.
XS1&2, Missing Year, Pied Piper. Heck, even Freaks would be kinda cool. Restoring the "edited" scenes to make sense would be preferred. If we're putting blood back in, it helps to see whats going on doesn't it, Shion?
In looking at someone of the wikipedia entries, it almost makes me wonder if Xenosaga: Frontier became Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenosaga: Exceed became Xenoblade Chronicles X.
There's a movement starting on FB and Twitter now:

I was playing Xenosaga and replaying Xenogears at the same time. By the time I got about 15 hours into each; I only continued with gears. I was enjoying saga, but gears was fuck yea sea king
Eh, I signed. I'd buy it for sure, as I enjoyed 1/3. I do hope something is done about 2, but I won't expect it. :<
I just hope he doesn't end up regretting it if it does come.
I would grudgingly purchase as 1 & 3 were enjoyable but 2 needs more work than a shiny paintjob. However they could take all my monies for even a mediocre graphic remake of Xenogears and I suspect it'd be the more profitable path. Hell, last I saw the demand for the Perfect Works reprint is already $100+ and it just released this past January.
y'all forgot to mention MOMO's voice change in 2 that killed kittens.
I am a huge xe0nosaga fan. I have fond memories of that game because their official forums were what got me hooked on forums rofl. I would for sure buy it, but probably skip 2 unless they did a massive overhaul to it.
Forgot to post that there's a petition now too:

Won't hurt to sign it![]()
Xenosaga getting cancelled after the third game is probably one of the biggest video game disappointments I've experienced in my life. I loved the shit out of those games.
I remember reading about how the original story was supposed to be a lot better and something happened where the game pretty much had to be shortened thus fucking up all the storytelling. I definitely liked the series and despite XS2 being extra tedious, Albedo stole the show of the whole game.
Mainly poor sales I guess. XS1 didn't do too great, XS2 had pretty bad reception so XS3 was changed to end the series.
In addition to what Gokulo said, the original plan for the Xenosaga series fell apart very quickly. What was originally supposed to be the entirety of Episode 1 (if I am recalling correctly) ended up being split into 2 episodes and then Soraya Saga was dismissed halfway through Episode 2's development. The actual Episode 2 then became Episode 3 (along with parts from what was supposed to be a real Episode 3 and skipping parts that were supposed to be covered in Episode 2-hence the 1 year time skip) and the series was canned shortly after. There was a pretty clear line, if the original plan was to be followed, to end up at Xenogears with the eventual Episode 5 and then follow on with Episode 6 following plot points based on Perfect Works.
It really is a shame, honestly. There was the potential to achieve the episodic epic feel that .hack originally conceived of without the loss in production values and the backing of a much better budget.
It doesn't help either that Takahashi is absolutely godawful at managing a game's development.
The xenogears plan feel through before the series happened because it wasn't being done with Square
It's well-documented Takahashi had piss poor management skills and completely blew through the Xenogears budget ridiculously premature. The Xenosaga debacle was also another incident in which there was absolutely no forethought whatsoever on how to go forward with the episodes like you'd see in a .hack series.
I don't think it's a coincidence at all that Soma Bringer and Xenoblade are that much more polished under the Nintendo brand. I can hate on Nintendo all day for their retarded business practices, but no one can deny the quality of work they put into their first and second party games. As much as I love the dude, Takahashi needs someone to keep him in check.
