Heyward and Simmons won for the Braves, easily the top rated at their positions

They totally weren't deserving, but the way the Royals manage their outfield thinned the competition a bit, since Cain didn't have enough innings at either CF or RF to really qualify.

Markakis is consistent as hell, just not great range. Cannon of an arm at least. Jones actually did do very well defensively this year, but he usually doesn't.

Oh well, just makin' up for the gloves Manny and Wieters woulda won if they stayed healthy. ;(

By "DRS" yes, but I have to state for the record that the Sabermetric and otherwise "advanced" defensive stats for MLB are at best in their infancy stages. There are some really really really flawed aspects to how they are calculated and the results they put out.

Note: still don't think Jones was much better than average, but I just take it upon myself to caution people about advanced defensive stats in baseball, because they are leaaaaaaagues behind the offensive and pitching stats.

Speaking of Markakis, he had his $17.5 million option declined. It would be really weird to see him in a uniform other than Ballmurr.

I was really hoping Utley would have finally won to make up for the 5 or so he should already have. Homerism aside, its god damn criminal that he's never won one considering how good he's been defensively throughout his career.

Ex Pitcher Brad Halsey died today in a climbing accident. Only 33 years old. Drafted by the yankees, but only pitched in 88 games. Probably most famous for dueling against Pedro in the 04 playoffs and giving up the home run to Bonds to break the HR record.
