I've said it before, I'd do a straight up Pavelec for Fleury trade any day lol.

But I'm still scratching my head why they would give him so much in November.

If you take out the Pens special teams, Fleury's even strength numbers are damn underwhelming. Pretty sure every goalie would see a good increase in their numbers if they had the Pens PP in front of them.

His 5-on-5 sv% rank (min 500 minutes)
2013-14: 42nd
2012-13: 14th
2011-12: 43rd
2010-11: 24th
2009-10: 47th

Even-strength sv% has been shown to be a more repeatable metric. Overall sv% is impacted by the quantity of penalties a team takes, and the quality of the team's PK.

Fleury has been pretty consistently underwhelming in terms of EV sv%. His only top 20 finish since winning the cup was in the lockout shortened season. In three of those seasons, his numbers weren't even indicative of being a starter.

I'm just confused to the timing and the NMC/Limited NTC that was added in.

I can't speak for the Flames but when the Leafs lose games, it's generally not because of our goaltending (Bernier's first couple starts this season notwithstanding). He might be a statistical upgrade (in the regular season, anyway) but the two we have are pretty good. For the record, Hiller and Berra both have better save percentages this season than Fleury.

The pens have or have had an incredibly shaky defense for years. This is the first year they've shown any competence in a while and fluery is playing well. It's not a coincidence. This contract is either going to be great or terrible

Berra is a back-up in Colorado. Ramo is our #2.

If anything, we're winning because of our goaltending, not losing. The goaltending and defense on the Flames have been absolutely rock solid this year. Calgary has the most points from their D-men compared to any other team (Something like 44 points from the D, where the next closest team is SJ with 31 points, and no other team in the league has more then 30). Hiller and Ramo both having hot starts is another key factor. There have been a handful of games the Flames had no business winning but still managed to because of the goaltending.

We got blown out out last 2 games and now were barely keepin up w buffalo. If youve watched games, youd see therrien has lost the team.

Think about the Nucks last year. They were better than shown, but they didnt care about their coach. He pressed shitty strategies and didnt fix problems with the team. The only difference is Price can steal a lot of games, Luongo could too but Torts hated him and didnt play him.
