Terra Battle [Android/iOS]

Anyone else playing this? It is free to download, tile strategy game. The game is made by Mistwalker lead by Sagaguchi with music by Nobuo Uematsu. It actually seems to have a decent story in the game, which is no surprise coming from Sagaguchi, and the gameplay is fun. I've been playing it off and on the last few days and I think it's great. Some units seem to have some type of job system, however I haven't had a chance to toy around with that yet.

I've been playing it, and managed to get two SS rolls out of four (Zerro and Amina). It's a lot harder than Brave Frontier, as it requires more thinking, and there's a great variety of skills and character progression than BF. Definitely the much deeper (and IMO better) game, and I hope it gets enough traction to continue development.

Movement seems to be a little awkward (I'm used to PaD), but otherwise, I have no complaints so far (other than sometimes traps get set between levels and you have very little time to react).

Wow, you've got some luck there. I've only seen one A and the rest have been Bs or Cs from rolls.

I'm not really familiar with the genre of mobile puzzle rpg but this game sure is something. The game has a LOT of depth and you can tell its made by people who know what a real RPG is. Battles are challenging and make you think, its heavily skill based. It honestly reminds me a lot of fire emblem.

Usually I delete these freemium titles because in the long term I know I can't stand the cutesy animu chibi art these games have but this game has a mature art style thankfully. The music is of course excellent (yay boss music) and the story telling so far is done well and seems interesting.

It looks pretty simple, just grind material drops and gold and promote that character. They're not jobs in the sense that you switch between them freely but you promote them so they can get stronger than they were before.

From what I've seen each job has its own separate level and skillset, with the more advanced jobs having slightly better stats at a given level. The big perk seems to be that you can cross-class skills from the other two jobs.

Yea, you can use skills from other jobs once you unlock them, so it's kinda like FFXIV's system, and allows for customization. Each character can also have a variety of skills, so there's a lot more depth than in games like BF or PaD.

Unfortunately, this is a freemium game, so the rarer units are going to be stronger in general, but that's not something you can really avoid.

Now that I've had some time to get through a couple of areas, I'm having a blast. It did take a little while for the movement mechanics to click, but once it did I've been hooked. My rolls so far have mostly been B's (with one A) so I feel that could have been better.. but whatever.

Now is actually a great time to reroll, since you get at least two rolls instead of the usual one. If you don't mind the grind, I'd recommend getting at least an SS to start things out.

By rerolling do you mean starting the game from scratch?

I just started. Got 2 B ranks during the tutorial. Then did 2 pulls and got a B rank and SS rank Amina.

Amina is really really good. I wouldn't reroll if you got her. There are only like 4 characters currently that have Party Revival and Amina is one of them. I'm reading (based off people who've played the Canada soft launch for a month) that having a good healer with revival is extremely useful for the endgame.

Yea, do Clear Data (on Android, dunno what it is on iOS), so you repeat the tutorial, then get the 5 energy from starting, and 5 from the code in OP for two rolls.

And actually, from what I read, Amina isn't that great a piece, because we all start out with a B-class healer. Revival apparently isn't that important because if you screw up and somebody dies, you can force close the app, and it will start at the beginning of the battle for you again. The B-class healer get a Heal All skill, whereas the SS-class healers oddly do not.

I'm loving the varying special daily zones. Yesterday was where you had to guard some moving power up tile from robots. If the robots got to the tile, they'd power up and could hit you with a huge attack. Today's involves puppets. On lv1, you get 12 seconds total for the entire battle to move your characters. It makes you think about if the gains from the longer complicated moves are actually worth the extra second or milliseconds.

I haven't seen a S or SS, just As or Bs. I do just fine with them. I thought about rerolling until I got a SS, but eh, I'm already on Ch7 battles. As long as you keep your characters leveled up, I don't think you'll have a problem with anything. Yay for Metal Zones.

Can you get S or SS for the default members they give you at first, or only the ones obtained via energy rolls after?

You get Bahl or Grace (B rank) as your first character, and then for the next few weeks you are also guaranteed Kuscah. Everything else (besides a few more story characters and one SS character you can get from gold rolls) is from energy rolls.

Personally I'd say it's not worth the hassle, given how good Amina is already. It's somewhat a matter of taste (if you were rerolling you'd be trying to get a high tier elemental caster or possibly one of the characters with Levitate -- no point in trying to reroll for another healer since Amina is about as good as you can do).

Alright I'm just gonna keep it. Not gonna spend too much time on this game so I'm not gonna waste even more resetting when I don't even know how likely I am to get another SS.

It's pretty impressive how bug-free this has been for a new game. I also haven't had a single server issue yet either.
