New jobs have no base class, won't start at level 1, and are coming with the first expansion which we're told will bring changes to the system as a whole.

Yes, they also require the having the expansion content and have quests that will begin in Ishgard, requiring people to have a lvl 50 job and be beyond 2.55 story. Best guess is that they will start at level 30 as well.

However, they also are still jobs, one and all. It's not exactly a stretch to say that it's impossible for the new jobs to have a Zodiac Weapon Quest because they are Ishgaurdian based jobs. After all Ninja is not a job that's native to Eorzea, but despite this has it's own Zodiac Weapon Quest line.

What's more than likely going to happen (don't be shocked) is that in the coming months closing in on HEAVENSWARD you'll see Yoshi-P come out and discuss how the new jobs will be added to the current relic questline, exactly how it was for Ninja. There will probably be an entirely new "relic" questline as well for all jobs, something that's exclusive to HEAVENSWARD.

If you're a pleab and you ride the highest ilvl available currently, then yeah. Gil has no appeal or use to you. But if you actually give two shits about your class, it doesn't matter what you play, crafted gear that is melded properly (all T4 until cap) mixed with the highest ilvl possible equipment will out perform whatever your mix of pleabagan tomestone gear and coil gear i130.

I hope this continues to hold true for 3.0 because it's nice to actually have something to use gil on rather sit and look at the 400mil+ I've collected and am going to have little use for other than melding out my crafting and gathering class(es) that get to benefit from specialty.

Keep in Mind Rog/Ninja isn't even an Eorzean profession (though it supposedly always existed in the shadows in limsa < key note) yet the legendary weapons/zodiac weapon is supposedly part of the entire line as well. They also retroactively added them to Primal and Primal Focus weapon loot tables. So I don't see why it wouldn't be on "old" relics in the sense of the quest. They confirmed Zeta would continue in 3.0 and despite 2.x being obsoleted, yoshida never had an issue with forcing us to do obsolete content before.

This is all I was saying. Actually it would be quite ludicrous if they didn't add them to every dungeon loot table & quest since 2.0.

It can honestly go either way but I've seen in plenty of other MMOs, including XI, where new jobs essentially bypassed gear/weapons from prior content. I honestly don't see SE adding MCH/DRK/AST to relics/zodiacs since the level cap raise is going to make those weapons pointless. I can see them level syncing most of the 2.0 stuff to 50 and who seriously wants to do level synced content for an outdated weapon when they can start the Relic 3.0 at 60. Yoshi already said current relics aren't required for the new hotness we're gonna get.

They'd be added to existing gear just like NIN was. They'll probably add primal weapons too if only to serve the same purpose as NIN's: vanity (I recall concept art of an Ifrit gun with horns and stuff).

As for relics, I very much doubt they'll have base relics, they will most likely start at the Zeta stage, it would be completely pointless to have base relics for them, they'd just be useless as anything prior to the Zeta stage will be outdated on release.

It would just be a waste of a weapon model and wouldn't make sense from a design standpoint, the Zeta stage marks the next big step in the relic weapon "saga" and it came about in the months leading up to the expansion, it makes perfect sense for base Zeta weapons to be the new starting point after the expansion lands.

They did show off primal guns then made sure to tell us the designs they showed us were scrapped. Whether that means those particular designs were scrapped or if the idea of adding them to old primals was scrapped wasn't made clear.

I'm only ever optimistic because of the team's transparency concerning the game itself -- I make very good educated guesses based off that fact.

Lets consider the situation with the new jobs. Yes, they wont start at lvl 1. However, they've already gone on record stating that the jobs wont be lvl 50 either. So one has to assume that at best they will start at lvl 30 and will still have to go through 2.0 areas like every other job (expansion is lvl 51+ only). It is here where one can make the assumption that all new jobs will have weapon drops added to the loot tables of the various lvl 50 dungeons.

I can see where people are coming from in thinking that new jobs will have a Zeta weapon dropped in their laps, but this notion should be dispelled, due to the fact I stated above. Its more than weapons being outdated come expansion time (if I recall correctly, all relics wont get an update until 3.1), its more so about this team aiming to milk 2.0 content ever so longer, even with a new expansion.

I was thinking since 2.XX featured single element primals we might see dual-element primals in the 3.XX series. Similar to XIs T2 Skillchains - Dark/Earth, Fire/Light, Wind/Thunder, Water/Ice.

Since they already did the 6 obligatory elements they can just do whatever they want with the new ones thematically.

Which is a good thing since, as Raldo said, elements are completely arbitrary in terms of gameplay.
