i woulnt be surprised if they cut off SCH totally from ACN (like you said). Its clear that they despise or dont want hybrid jobs in their game due to imbalance and sch comes very close to a hybrid job as it gets in 14. My guess is they will cut off SCH from ACN and make it a pure healer.
It's not like WHM can't DPS...
How many of WHM's healing tools can be used in Cleric Stance.
How many of WHM's spells bypass ACC checks.
How good are WHM's MP recovery tools (shroud is a static 1080 MP that doesn't scale).
Go DPS a test dummy on WHM and see how long before you run out of MP, now do the same on SCH (don't even use Energy Drain, just Aetherflow).
On the flip side, pretty sure 90% of SCHs would be pissed if the hypothetical job split-off was any more than cosmetic. Removing every part of their kit that makes them shine and turning them more into a "pure" healer would be pretty bad.
After the changes to Flash, not really no.
Flash is more hate than an uncombo-d Halone or Block.
If anything tho the problem is with Shield Lob and Tomahawk not having decent enough hate mods to be worth using to grab initial aggro.
Q: How many WHM healing tools can be used in Cleric Stance?
A: All of them.
The the keyword there should be "effectively".
Which of scholar's spells bypass accuracy checks?
Forgive me I am not an expert on either job. Maybe I am missing something here. I will not argue that SCH has much better MP management and long term DPS potential...
WHM CAN DPS though. I believe there's some press floating around with WHM doing 300+ DPS in turn 10.
The point I was trying to make initially is that you can't change SCH to be "purely" a healer without nerfing the fuck out of the class. I don't think that's necessary.
ACN/SCH's Bio, Bio2, and Shadow Flare all don't have an accuracy check because they don't have an initial potency (compare: Virus, Holmgang, Shadowbind, most CC spells like Sleep). Miasma and all of their other offensive abilities, and all of WHM's offensives do have to check accuracy (also including stuff like Brutal Swing or Blizzard2, which won't apply debuff if they miss).
It meant that even in progression with a SCH who doesn't invest into accuracy to cap, they could still maintain decent DPS contribution solely with their 100% accuracy moves. Prime example is our first T8 where all I had to do was throw on Bio/2 a few times (and not waste my MP trying to stick Miasma or Aero) and we had enough DPS to clear. That SCH is magnitudes more MP-efficient than WHM (and Energy Drain refunds some MP to boot) is just icing.
It's something that they're not likely to repeat the same "mistake" with on Astrologian, though they might as well. The main thing holding back healer DPS is not really having offensive cooldowns anyways, aside from Cleric Stance and (WHM's) PoM.
SCH has the bonus of bio/bio 2 and shadowflare not haveing any accuracy checks, now even in FcoB runs you can stick Miasma and co. usually alot (not 100%). Ad a phase with Adds on top of it and go with bane... yaie you just tripled your dmg. you will notice the DPS spikes in an add phase where the adds are close. This is most obvious in T13 during divebombs/add phase, T10 with sons and daughters and T12 on phase 1 or 2 with bennus and dark fire.
Do not compare WHM DPS and SCH DPS during dungeon runs, because there is so much downtime for mana to regenerate that a whm can easy spam holy/bbq/wtfever, which is not possible during a really hard coil run without running into MP issues and screaming for ballads.
Dat Supa Saiyan Hair.
what a waste of a live letter
With how information spreads amongst here JP forums and Reddit, I don't expect any spectacular Live Letters anymore.
They have. But even information given at PAX (minus a few interviews) were more or less rehashes of information over the last couple of months (since Fan Fest), all of it simply piled up to the fore so everyone was reminded.
Now that they've made a huge foothold in the MMO market both here and in Japan and Europe, I doubt we will be getting much hard hitting interviews packed with information anymore, even when it's for a new patch. It seems at least for the last few months the extra bits of new information we do get is when it's from a Famitsu/Dengeki/Game Watch transcriptions.
It's truly amazing how many people don't watch to the end of the 2d fighter trailer to see the "this is totally fake" disclaimer.
Sch has been a healer/nuker in every ff game its been present in. Usually has both black and white magic. Maybe they can add a stance to SCH that allows their healing skills to be gated behind this stance. Activate "light arts" to use cures, and sch abilities, use dark arts to use bio and shadow flare and other arcanist abilities. Maybe make light arts add a small bonus to sch abilities and dark arts add a bonus to spell damage. This wah they cant use both simultaneously but whichever one they're in get enhanced, 2min cool down on changing arts? *Shrug*
Some interesting new race concept art.

They actually thought about doing Viera, and some warewolf race before they settled on a dragon type race.
