Siren Song and March of the Moogles are credited to Soken, but yea I looked it up and it was Uematsu. Just one of those weird things since it was added during the time when Soken did a lot of themes.

I don't remember which songs were in those 74~82? ripped from Alpha and obvi SE took them off youtube now

I'm talking about the 1.0 Alpha gamerip, which was long before moogle song(s) existed ("March of the Moogles" is the offkey cutscene music leading to moogle fight, IIRC). Steel Reason is track 42 in that release.

AFAIK, all of Soken's stuff is post-Tanaka. I'm pretty sure "Siren Song" is not in that gamerip.

March of the Moogle is offkey cutscene music played in the original Gridania opening, not the Moogle fight. Siren Song was used a few times in the Blacksmithing Quests in 1.0

Like the Ye olde Einherjar glitch where some poor alliance gets ass mangled by 3 different tier bosses at once.

^ I would pay to see a youtube vid of this. I will superimpose that FFIV boss theme over it, complete with original sound effects.

thats correct. i was the one who did the first gamerip. Siren Song is most definitely not Uematsu.. so Soken as it credits. March of the Moogles was already in the alpha.. but its not exactly a song and more of a short ditty.. so perhaps if Soken was part of the team then he had put that together?

I've been praying for a Lunar Subterranean and Temple of Fiends Revisited since the first CT stuff showed up. Could easily split the first up into three dungeons like CT too- Surface, Subterranean, and Core, with lots of interesting mobs and bosses to reuse. And the music...

Kefka's Tower would be neat too, but harder to justify that turning up in Eorzea lorewise. One or more of the last dungeon areas in 5 seems like a safer near term bet, though, with the (V/B)aldesion shenanigans lately.

CT-type nostalgia content is basically targetted directly at whatever demographic I embody, though, so I'd take a Jade/Pandemonium or Muronde Death City or Doom Castle or whatever the heck they feel like cranking out, as long as it can match the level they hit with the Crystal Tower.

Soken was a part of the development team before 1.0's release. The fact that you can see him in the background of the terribly edited collecter's edition dev commentary DVD proves this. I believe at the time he was just an assistant to the actual sound director.

I feel like Steel Reason was wasted on Livia.
Poor Rhitahtyn Sas Arvina, no one remembers him. Galka McGunshields, stuck in an eternity of lame Cape Westwind.

Poor, poor Edge. Always getting targeted by all 3 behemoths and shrekt.
This so many times. Lucavi, as always, knows my pain.

On another note, I heard "Over Windy Meadows" or whatever one of the old La Noscea theme was during a cutscene. Made me happy.

I don't know if its Soken or whoever, and I don't give a fuck, really, but whoever is responsible for the CT/ST/WoD remakes of FFIII music, I tip my hat to you. Not once did I feel like anything was butchered, and this is coming from a guy who often-times hates direct ports and remakes of games because of minor differences in sounds. That Cloud of Darkness rendition was absolutely delicious.

I haven't been this satisfied of a game remaking an OST since the PSP remake of Tactics Ogre. I wish there was a way I could send them a message that they'd be able to read and understand. Its good to know that the modern composers still "get" Uematsu's earlier works.

Definitely among the best tracks in the whole game, especially with the parallel atmospheric and battle tracks depending on when you're engaged, and the cool twist on the boss track at Cerberus. It was also nice to hear them bring back some of the other FFIII tracks arranged to play just once in certain cutscenes (the Unei/Doga track and the world map track).

After the new music from this last update, I'm pretty excited about what we're going to hear in Heavensward.

World map track blew my fucking mind. It gets me so hype for our eventual "chunk" of FFIV content outside of them using the main theme. World Map, Within the Darkness, Suspicion, Battle themes 1,2 and 3, Zeromus, The Red Wings (obviously), even something like Fabul if we ever visit any of the Doman cities.

Their big leak will be the addition of keyboard sensitivity sliders to our configuration.

Well the Gold Saucer will be out by then and there's really nothing to talk about regarding 2.5 part 2 without spoiling the story so they'll likely start going all out with Heavensward info.
