I forget was Omega namedropped in the CT storyline as well as the MSQ or did people just speculate that when Nero mentioned a power "greater than Ultima" he was referring to Omega?

Omega was directly mentioned in the MSQ, yes.
There is nothing I can think of which directly references Omega outside of the MSQ.
Was something about Omega mentioned when doing the Frontline stuff? Or was that MSQ?
I thought Omega was supposed to be buried under Carteneau, one of the things the 3 nations were fighting over dibs on.
(the tortured reasoning behind FL is dumb as hell really, it's like if we held olympic MMA fights at archeological digs....)
^ Ding ding. That Uldahn asshole wants to build a refugee living complex there and have them dig excavate Omega for him, of course desiring to use it to acquire power, blah blah.
I can say with certainty my body is ready for Teledji piloting the Mobile Suit Omega against the Warrior of Light. It'll be like Gaius but more awesome because that Lalafeil is one giant mustache twirling jackass.
Raubahn 2016: HEAR ME MONETARIST SCUM
Pretty sure Nero was referring to the Power of Darkness and not Omega. Seems like a pretty shoddy reference to the Warriors of Darkness in FFIII (also Crystal Tower/World of Darkness related). You get the entire line by Nero talking about how he thought he could "control the darkness" and what not. Can look at this line prior to being engulfed by Cloud of Darkness:
Nero stating that it's a "new toy" to play with is figurative, he was comparing the darkness energy (Cloud of Darkness) itself and tasked himself with trying to control him/her/it. He allowed the Adventurer to do the heavy lifting and carry the expedition to the top, but was unexpectedly carried away to the World of Darkness within the Void. Even then he fought to control the darkness himself, protecting Doga and Unei (so he could use them) while the Adventurer was making their way through WoD."So...this is the legacy the Allagan Empire left behind. If my readings are correct, the energy source waiting atop the tower is a match for even the Ultima Weapon. Nay...more than a match. Heh heh heh... A new toy for me to play with.
Also Nero coming back as a villain is highly unlikely -- him tossing his Garlean reader down the chasm was also metaphorical in a sense; he finally gave up his Garlean roots as he's learned that there are far stronger entities and beings that exist in the world he lives in. He'll probably become a researcher or some such.
Nero's pining to surpass Cid's wrench wasn't enough?
I do look forward seeing Nero in the next raid arc though. He could grow into a begrudging asset in the long arc against Garlemald.
Inb4 they abandon the Omega plot and use it as a bridge to Alexander and we see Teledij dressed up in a goblin outfit, or is a doppelganger Goblin.
There is no scenario they could ever write that would paint Teledji as a proper villain, because he's a fucking lalafell lol

The final cutscene will be punting his ass off a cliff, when Randy Orton appears out of nowhere to deliver an RKO to the ground.
