Besides children in danger, killing off a character is one of the most cliche and cheapest means to enhance a stories "tension" or emotional investment. They don't need to kill her off for this storyline to go anywhere or be interesting... plus they already murdered one of my favorite characters - Not naming any names cause spoilers.

Moenbryda was a character added for one update before being killed off.

It would really be cheesy if Nanamo drinks from a poisoned chalice and drops it which alludes to the update logo.

Idk, I played Type 0. I would say Yoshi probably doesn't, considering looking back to FFXI and spoilers for 7 year old content..I guess, but they did fine killing people off in ToAU's storyline. If they really want to drive the story, they should kill Nanamo off - Tbh she's technically worthless, not Minfillia levels of worthless, but definitely has no true power of any kind, but she's enough of a public figure it would definitely make shit go down but as said it's the most cliche. Sadly, Omega is going to be nothing but an obligatory: "Hey remember this is Final Fantasy?" Fight because that's pretty much all the Ultima weapon was, given the fact it was such an easy fight tacked onto the end of the main storyline and even the "actual fight" was still very easy. Omega has the potential to open the gates though, because per V's "lore", it was designed to seek out Shinryu which they followed up in other FF games with Omega where Shinryu exists, whether in original or a remake. In XI shinryu popped up eventually, in XIII-2's Arena it was basically stated it was seeking it.

So if anything comes from Omega, it's the possibility of Shinryu being a thing.

I think Nanamo will die simply based on what Midgardsormr said after Monbrayda's death. Someone is going to get the axe, and Namamo is most likely said person.

Either that or Namamo and Raubahn will orchestrate her death through very complicated planning. If it involves the chalice, they will likely set up (or has set up) Teleji's assistant as a double agent, they "poison" Namamo and get her far away from Ul'dah, Teleji is outed for high treason, Ul'dah people (more so people from Ala Mhigo) will revolt, then Raubahn goes on an epic mission to quell the revolt, then disband and destroy the Syndicate before becoming Ul'dah's first president.

You know Ul'dah is about to become FFXIV Bastok.

Real talk though, I can see the storyline being on some real Code Geass Zero Requiem type shit. Namamo being killed off, either orchestrated or real, will be a sad turn for the storyline if it happens, because essentially Namamo will never see her best friend (lover?) Raubahn or nation ever again. However, her death is likely required to finally unify Ul'dah.

I don't care for Namamo dying or not, it's just completely simple to see that the politics of Ul'dah is being set up to remove her in one way or another. There's a gold chalice in the logo, and we've been told by Yoshi-P that said chalice will be significant in the second part of the 2.5 story and that it's tilted for a reason (be it metaphorical or physical imagery of what we will see). You can pretty much draw any number of conclusions from this, none of which will ever leave Ul'dah the same afterwards. I simply drew two conclusions from this, one with Namamo being dead and the other with her not.

You can like Namamo and that's fine, but it would be foolish to think that something won't happen to her, irrevocably changing (or ending) her storyline forever. She had that entire dialogue with Merlwyb & Kan-E-Senna for a reason. I just personally feel it will be a dramatic changeover from monarchy to democracy, rather than her simply abdicating from the throne and creating a democracy.

I mean, as a character, I love Nanamo. She's smart, compassionate and looks adorable, but I do believe characters like her do best when they die and their death spurns tangible change. I'm getting a heavy Tactics Ogre vibe going on from this, and deaths in that game typically amounted to something if the character was important enough. I'd say the last in line to the royal seat is pretty goddamn important, especially when she's already resigned to her fate, seemingly.

This is a woman who accepts death for the sake of growth. She's not looking for death, but she knows its a very viable option, and probably the best one to help her little baby Uldah grow up into what it needs to start becoming.

Also, Minfillia's tits needs to be a hat design, much like the Gobbie cap.

Midgar said another person would likely be struck down or something along the lines I can't be bothered to watch the moobreena cutscene again, and with Midgar having sealed the 6 crystals that we've awoken to do... w/e I feel that's a rather loosely tied plotline, but hey.

Lalaslutface69 dies and it makes something snap and the adventure breaks the seal in the wake of the events, midgar recognizes that Lalaslutface69 was of some importance and his minion form disappears from us to summon him with some stuffed animal version of him that has a string tied around our wrist so it drags around on the ground and we pretend we don't know any better, LuciousBreasts420 tells us we need to leave the Crystal Braves and keep a low profile as xXxMidget_MurderxXx has people looking for us that are very deadly because they carry Anti-heroite rocks or something and it can kill us if we stay near them.
