They get people to pay more (I assume) for "early access" and wind up using them to essentially beta test the new content/client/engine and a bunch of lengthy emergency mantenances later it's in a bit better shape for the actual launch.

That's basically what happened during 2.0 launch.

Demon/High Allagan tank gear definitely trumps WAR and PLD AF2, but they aren't horrible looking.

Mage gear is terrible across the board however, despite being renditions of FF3 & Adult Rydia's FF4 set.

Given that the player base can find glaring errors in about 30 minutes from playing a new patch, I'd say quite a bit.

Don't know what some of you guys are smoking but that MNK af looks amazing. SMN, BRD, and DRG look good as well. The WAR looks fucking atrocious though.

I agree with this on the MNK front. MNK's should look as free as they can be. I like WAR though, too.

WAR set looks like they took WAR AF, smashed it with a hammer, and patched it back together with tar and scrap metal.

edit: also they lost the helm completely while doing it and just replaced it with the WoD helm and hoped no one would notice

If it's a CE perk you do pay more. I don't think they've mentioned how you get the EA this time.

Pretty sure early access is just preorder just like 2.0 was

Until they let us dye High Allagan gear, the Kaiser set will continue to be the best in the game.

It's not. You get it during the main story.
