Need my ferris wheel for all my waifus :3
Im still back in 2.1 msq if I come back for the expansion so Yeah its gonna be a high pain in the ass. I hate everything in XIV being tied so much into the Main story.
This might be out-of-date but I explicitly remember previous statements being made (I believe in Live Letters) that iLevels will be adjusted downward after each expansion, so that the overall scale of the slider remains but equipment gets reclassified as it becomes less useful.
It seemed like a lot of work but that was what I heard.
It makes me so sad to read so many people don't care about the story.
MMO stories tend to be a bit underwhelming, too, given the generic nature of everyone being teh hero while we're usually more the spectator than a participant. And while I wasn't much of a fan of GW2's launch story, at least your character wasn't perpetuating the silent protagonist stereotype, either.
^ To you, perhaps. To me, yes. To everyone, ehhhhh. But, they gotta go through the hoops just like anyone else if they want the goodies at the end of it. Those who enjoy it obviously fare a little bit better than those who don't, but that's how it goes.
it still bugs me that places like Natalan, Zaharak, Castrum Occidens are just cake walk places.
they should be inconveniences. there should be unique gathering points, treasure map spawn points, FATEs, Hunt mobs in these areas. i wouldn't put dailies there but like a Beastmen weekly quest.
all those things should have rare drops not found in other places. if it ends up driving up the price of a new form of Ehcatl Sealant then good. if you don't want to go there, don't go, but it'll pay for the people who put in the effort.
they should start the scale at tough/difficult for 8 base level 60s. i'm pretty sure a full i130 player still can't just walk through Turn 3 solo. that's how i would scale those areas.
and these places definitely should have doors and switches so you can't Stealth the whole way through.
One thing we should remember is that everyone can access Ishgard once the expansion starts and they will be able to explore the areas around it. They just cannot fight anything as the monsters will all be 51+. Therefore, new players can expect to get to level 30 pretty easily by just following the MSQ for a few days, warp to Ishgard and unlock one of the new jobs that interests them, level it to 50 through the MSQ, all the while learning all the job's abilities and tactics, and then have fresh content available beyond.
I am not sure I want fresh lvl 50 players who have no idea how to play their jobs suddenly rushing new content and being a detriment to more skilled players (of course....not that does not happen already lol)
Don't people -want- more time away from newbies in your dungeons? I'm not sure why people are all "somebody think about the newbies!" all of a sudden. If newbies are forced to complete the MSQ, that's a barrier that protects you and your 2-to-3-man team from having to deal with that potential idiot. I figure the barrier would be a good thing.
I would read/listen to the story if it wasnt written in goddamn ancient/shakespearean english or whatever.
Not using JP Voice is like listening to the 4kids version of ffxiv.
No? More people playing the game is almost always a good thing. The way the current MSQ is now if you haven't been keeping up from patch-to-patch it's literally pants on head retarded. How many people here bitched endlessly about the Costa de Sol / Titan trial ramp-up? "wah wah wah why all these fetch quests" congratulations that's all 2.1->2.4 is pretty much. A bunch of worthless drivel and one fight; it's boring, it's not engaging, it's not worth doing. At least you can argue "but the quests level you up!" for that mid 30 slog, but right now the 7th Astral quests don't do shit for the player except gate them. Nobody wants the artificial limitation of talk to 50 npcs and completely ignore as much as humanly possible to maybe unlock one fight that rewards nothing so you can then do more fetch quests to unlock a fight with obsoleted drops. If they retool these quests to level a character from 50->60, that's one thing, but I'm not completely sold it's something they're doing.
A new person isn't automatically an idiot either, I mean, fuck's sake man, if you want the game to have a ridiculous insular community hellbent on being douchefags to newer players you can still play FFXI.
