Perhaps. The current working theory was that you had to register on an Apple device before you could use the service on PC. Unsure if they clarified that point yet or not.

In either case, it is fucking hilarious. The whole point of a standalone service was to free their content from cable restrictions and (hopefully) reduce piracy. I was ready to drop $15 a month to watch their shows until they decided to lock it to fucking Apple devices for three months or whatever. Now I'm debating if I want to give them any money when it goes to other platforms.

Worst part is that it locks you out of the entire GoT season lol... I mean really though. Apple better be paying a metric shit-ton to keep it apple for those 3 mo. They'll probably lose a lot of subs that they would have gotten had they opened it up.

Deadline reports that Showtime is about to launch its own standalone streaming service. I doubt it will catch the 15 bones that HBO is charging but lets say its 10. So if you have netflix, hbonow, and this thats almost 35 bucks plus internet. That can't be a whole lot cheaper than cable + internet. I guess there are still awesome savings on the monthly charges that cable companies whore you with for box rentals and taxes and all but still, this shit gonna start adding up.

Yeah, getting all these one offs will not save money in the long run. Right now I'm Sling($20) + internet($70) + amazon(99/yr). But it's still cheaper than HD route with TWC. Once you start adding in extra shit it's around 180.

Google needs to hurry their shit up.

It's pretty good now with AMC, HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel. Also TNT, TBS, etc. Just make sure you get an Amazon Fire TV for it. It doesn't Chromecast very well(since you have to actually cast your phone screen).
