I would kill for year-round daylight savings time, the past 5 months have been killing me, my kids wake up so fucking early.

Not fucking with the clocks was one of the best things ever. Then Indiana decided to be retarded about it.
Prob not the greatest thread for this but this company tweeted this today and a few hours later this bridge collapsed killing several people yikes

cached article about this bridge, it was put up in 6 hours on saturday using a method called "accelerated bridge construction"
I expect a response from Trump to be about needing better infrastructure first then thoughts and prayers second.
Truly the world's safest bridge.

A very unfortunate tweet.
Multiple deaths being confirmed now. FHP spokesperson says "at least 6 or 7" vehicles were crushed by the bridge collapse.
$14.2m pedestrian bridge stands the test of time for almost 5 days
FIU, local, state, and federal govs all worked together on this according to CNN. Really hope FIU, local, state, and federal govs get sued to Key West and back for this negligence.
China must be laughing at us. Their building might be shitty, but they're put up with equal speed and last longer than 5 days.

And not one of them did the math, I guess.FIU, local, state, and federal govs all worked together on this
it's more common than you'd think. long ago and far away i worked for a land survey company. the owner's son had achieved local notoriety because he found a 3' discrepancy in the height of a bridge support plan for the state hwy 287 extension. the state ignored him, and sure enough it was 3' off what it was supposed to be and had to be re-done.
Turns out the bridge was months away from completion. It was simply sitting on the concrete pillars on the ends and most likely collapsed on its own weight. Not sure what kind of testing is done beforehand, but they probably could have placed the finished bridge on jacks on the end, and then some in the middle with the middle jacks lowered by a few feet to test the tension before moving it to the location.
i actually saw one tweet that said it happened during a stress test but i dont understand because the previous articles said it was up and done in 6 hours so I'm confused
who would stress test with the road open surely that didn't happen?? it was a reporter that said it
This is not the first time the bridge's developer has had trouble. They are involved in a lawsuit where a TSA official was injured on one of their bridges.
The same company that designed that bridge designed a very unpopular and expensive pedestrian bridge in my town. It was built about two years ago and there's been no issues, but of course people here are freaking out now. Of course designed doesn't mean constructed and it could be perfectly fine, but trying to rationalize with people in panic is never easy.
