The safety of everyone but the teachers. If two students are in a serious fight, teachers can't even separate nowadays. Everything is about making sure the district doesn't get sued, and teachers get hung out to dry because of it.

Never defend yourself as a teacher. Never stop a student from attacking another student. Don't lay hands on them or their parents may get hot and file a lawsuit over their precious angel. This is what being a sue-happy nation leads to.

I watched a gym teacher save the literal life of a student 21 years ago, who was being beaten to death - past the point of unconsciousness - by a student. Can't do that these days. Call for the rent-a-cop if they have one. Can't get sued.

Not in the link, but there is video captured from a bystander floating around the internet if you are feeling morbid. It ain’t good, chief. Doubly so because before they go up the ride operator is talking about how there are no seatbelts and joking with the riders. Oomph. The ride has an over the shoulder restraint like a roller coaster but no seatbelt so as the riders were propelled downwards it appears the kid was pushed out of the seat through the bottom and…smack.

Video isn't very graphic, though it's still watching someone die. Based on the video, you can clearly see the kid shouldn't have been let on the ride to begin with as he was too big for the restraint to properly latch into position around his body. There was a large gap towards the bottom of the restraint and the seat, so it's no wonder he went flying.

You see where everyone was, what the operators were doing before and their response after. As unfortunate as the situation is the video will be critical viewing for ride safety in the industry moving forward, and will be invaluable as the victim’s family seeks restitution.

I remember it being explained to me when I worked my local amusement park that the lap bars and over the shoulder things are almost always enough and seat belts are generally only there as a support.
