Last home I lived in with my parents on the Atlantic coast , we had a decent sized creek and canal and about a quarter acre for a backyard. Several times a year would have about 6 to 8 foot gators wander the back, to the point it was common for them to get into our neighbors swimming pool.
We just let them be and never had any issues as we kept our animals indoors.
