I've come to believe over time that you sit in a position of privilege. Not the kind that came from West Philadelphia born until you one day pulled up to your kingdom and were finally there. Instead the kind that falls into some grey zone of assistance, government and otherwise. That sits there only worried about keeping what they have and not losing more to some more conservative force. The point he's making is that, mixed system or not, these are still market based systems that operate largely on private ownership of the means of protection. They are capitalism, just not unfettered complete market autonomy.

Which is to say that, democracy curbs capitalism's excesses preventing true communist revolutions by a unified proletariat. That leaves us only with the countries whose revolutions were spearheaded by autocrats who seized power.

That is incompatible with the system of capitalism. Concessions come. Concessions go. The material incentive for undermining those will always be unable to be trusted to the capitalist.
In the same token reform will never be enough. Which I have always argued should not be the goal everyone puts their hopes on.

Looks like SB-254 passed in FL and FloridaMan Ron DeSantis is going to sign it. Basically it allows the state to take minors who are receiving gender affirming care away from their parents. What's scary about this is that there is another bill making its way thru FL legislature that will give the death penalty for child sexual abuse and there is wording in the SB-254 bill that says gender affirming care is a form of physical harm. What's to stop FL legislation to say that gender affirming care is a form of physical abuse and gives them the ability to give parents of trans kids the death penalty. Crazy if that ever were to happen...
