Florida paved over the pulse nightclub rainbow crosswalk.
https://www.advocate.com/news/rainbo...-pulse-florida
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dwyer has gone on record saying it was done by the state without his input or approval and is personally appalled. There have already been volunteers out recoloring it in chalk and there was an impromptu protest held tonight at the Pulse memorial.
Yesterday a guest at Universal’s Epic Universe died while riding the Stardust Racers rollercoaster. I initially thought it might have been an old timer with a heart condition. But nope. The coroners report came out and he was in his early 30s and cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma. Holy shit. Prevailing theory is he likely passed out and got thrashed around while limp and smashed his head in.
Man if you need to brace yourself or else be thrashed around the rollercoaster than maybe it's too rough a ride and needed to be redesigned...
I hate how every new rollercoaster has just devolved into "how many Gs can we subject them to during this turn?"

Ok old man
Being a tall, my head has clipped tree branches while riding rollercoasters.
How are you still posting on BG while headless?
6souls confirmed as a dullahan.
I forget the name of it but there was a coaster at Darien Lake that had a corkscrew near some pine trees and I had my hands up through the corkscrew and got them absolutely shredded by the branches. When we were back the following year they had cut the trees down.
MCO airport is going to be offering direct flights to Tokyo, Japan for a few weeks in early 2026. It will be the first direct flights to Japan ever offered from Florida. Man, I hope these become a permanent thing. Google says a direct flight would be 14ish hours.
Last week Trump say to vaccinate your kids
This week Florida says fuck em

In a few years this country is going to be like Medieval europe where living past the age of five was about a fifty fifty chance.

DeSantis signed a bill into law that allows the state government to designate terrorist groups and have anyone supporting said groups removed from public colleges.
Brightline is seeking third party investors to avoid filing for bankruptcy
https://www.axios.com/local/miami/20...ruptcy-florida
To note, this would not be your normal bankruptcy claim as Brightline is financially solvent and able to cover their operating costs quite comfortably. However, they are a few billion in debt and are due to make a $117 million interest payment this year which they may not be able to cover. Thus, the ask for outside investors.
Idk if it was this thread or another, but I've mentioned before how the brightline fucking sucks for the state it's trying to service. Unless you literally work at the train station, you're better off driving to ANY location versus taking the brightline. You don't save money, don't save time, aren't convenienced in any way whatsoever when compared to driving to your location instead, assuming you have a vehicle available. The costs one is big, cause I'd sincerely be willing to take the train from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando, but it costs more than a tank of gas to ride the train; at least a tank of gas will take my family with me versus having to buy tickets for them as well absolutely wrecking the value. And then when you get there you're stuck in a driving state with no vehicle!
Sometimes they offer free ubers from the station, but not all the time iirc. For the time sink it is, and fact that most people in the state already have a car cause it's almost required in this state, it makes the brightline a hard sell.

They need some kind of equivalent to a Sun Pass or a metro card like other major cities have to encourage frequent use, I think.
Today is the ten year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando. Just got a lot of people talking about it in my social circles today as people are remembering. I don’t know if it matters much to the rest of the country but that week was such a gut punch for Florida and Orlando in particular. All in the same week were the Pulse shooting, Christie Grimmie being murdered, and the kid being killed by the alligator at Disney World.
