What was so controversial about that? She got momentarily frustrated after 25 minutes of questions about her credibility but continued to answer the questions eloquently anyway.

Did we even watch the same video? She was talking 60% of the time. I think she was asked MAYBE four questions regarding stuff people had emailed the interviewer about. After most of the questions, the interviewer responded with "oh, that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up", or "I agree with you, but think you could go one step further." Her frustration was completely unwarranted, and looks exactly like a pre-emptive move to garner more attention in the same way she did with the harassment on twitter.

This is the problem with the hyper feminists - intellectual dishonesty and overeagerness to claim victimhood/oppression.

The popular opinion is now firmly set on the idea that gamergate is a house of cards, now toppled. The ruse is exposed. The duplicitous core at the heart of the issues has been seen for what it is... But with such certainty re: the relative merits of gamergate itself, hulk would still argue what is perhaps getting lost in all of this is the legitimacy of how many people are still on the wrong side of gamergate because of its inherent association with positive things in their life - and how many really, truly don't realize they are on the wrong side of this and think they are helping. Because no, it's not all duplicitous backroom chatter and intentional manipulation. From hulk's viewpoint, there's been a lot of young people simply rallying around vague notions of goodness. These tend to be a lot of sensitive people. A lot of people who really, honestly think this is about ethics. And they do not think this out of delusion, but out of simple lack of awareness. And it is easy to dismiss such sentiment and throw them in with the manipulators... But these are the people who hulk most hears from. They are real.

In fact, there is a pretty decent argument to be made about the way the AAA developers try to control media outlets, but the vast majority of the folks behind gamergate do not seem as interested in that issue (though when you bring it up, they say they are, then proceed to direct zero ire that way and instead criticize people speaking up on misogyny... And if you want to understand what a movement is really about, look at who they are really targeting / the effect). Sadly, this crippling action only helps showcase that perhaps the biggest crisis in games journalism is that it needs to find a way to support even more quality writers than the ones that exist (and are underpaid) - and it needs an audience that doesn't actively harass them for a variety of horrific social reasons / misunderstandings of how journalism actually works.

There's a lot of meat in the article for people who want to read the rest. If you can't stand filmcrithulk's all caps style here's a case-shifting website to copy-paste the column into and read in a more human-friendly format.

You didn't even read the bits I excerpted for your lazy ass. Good people have, in the void of information that exists at the core of GG, clung to abstractions like 'ethics' and armed with only that decided to attach an emotional argument to their support of the cause. This causes them to take criticism of the movement personally, as if pointing out the net bad effect GG is having on the discourse is the same as a personal brand of misogyny. That's filmcrithulk's core argument.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. I just think that when you are being interviewed and trying to look good to people that you would try to put more effort into looking professional than not at all.

He's not for or against GamerGate. He simply doesn't give a shit.

That aside, you really should follow him if you don't already. He's hilarious and his reasons for blocking people are just as hilarious.
