Not commenting either way, it's just stupid that none of you can take 2 seconds to google "anita shooting tweet"

Now, I don't know what's in that article and I'm definitely no Anita supporter but without more to go on than that you can't really say she doesn't believe there are other factors.
She may believe that "toxic masculinity" (whatever the hell that is) is a major factor but that doesn't preclude others.
I can't really agree or disagree with her statement because I don't even know what it means since I don't know what "toxic masculinity" is even supposed to be.
Ultimately, as far as I'm concerned, those are statements with no substance whatsoever.
Hey, we got ourselves a winner.
alright real talk, the @femfreq twitter is not run by anita, it's run by the guy who writes everything that comes out of her mouth. he tweeted essentially the same thing at exactly the same time that those tweets went out on the @femfreq account. he also absolutely believes video games cause real world violence like school shootings.
The idea that "media" is more important for forming opinions and worldview than "family" or "friends" is crazy.
So now, not only has she never said the thing she supposedly said, but she didn't even write the thing she never said.
sorry did you have a point? I'm not saying Anita is off the hook for those ridiculous tweets, I'm addressing your obtundity regarding the depths of their agenda's craziness. Anita has no problem being the public face of the garbage Jon McIntosh commits to paper, and Jon has demonstrably said media and masculinity should be targeted as the cause of school shootings.
Why not target the source instead of the face, then? If they aren't her opinions go after McIntosh instead.
Whether I say "Feminist Frequency", "Anita Sarkeesian", "Tropes vs. Women", or "Jon McIntosh" the implied subject of my sentence is essentially unchanged. It's easiest to go with the one that requires least explanation.
Except when we are talking about the perception of GamerGate being misogynistic, picking the one that makes you look misogynistic probably isn't a good idea.
Edit: how do you expect anyone to infer that you are actually talking about someone else when you specifically say another person's name?
To be fair, in this case she's not done literally any single thing to distance herself from his viewpoint so you could essentially use them interchangeably if you ask me.
Pretty similarly to how if someone posts a video in support of an argument, you could assume they hold the beliefs in that video until they say otherwise.
It may be an incorrect assumption but she's basically put her stamp on it regardless.
...and again, it required less explanation. Though now that its been explained; we should be able to continue regardless, correct?
1. I don't think most people are stupid enough to think disagreeing with a woman is misogyny.
2. Do you really not get how someone who calls themself a "media critic" for reading scripts written by somebody else can be inferred to share the views of the person writing those scripts or do you think it's cute to make derailing shitposts? Genuinely curious
If you give me your BG account password and i start posting bad shit under your name (n bombs, f bombs, "women deserve to be shamed", etc), are you off the hook because "i didnt say it, someone who i allowed to represent me said it"? Sorry, no. Shes been playing the face of those words this entire time...theres no cherry picking now.
"I'm Anita Sarkeesian and I support this message."
the internet equivalent of this is your screen name.
Have you considered that you don't think they have no substance, because they do indeed have no substance to you? Even in your objection to the argument you do not enter on the realm of "toxic masculinity", so you might not have the perspective to see it.
Not saying that your feelings or arguments are wrong, but there is something in people that is contributing to mass shootings, Stubenville rapes, etc. I am not even talking about things like the 10 hours video, but the hellacious events that appear to be occurring with increased frequency (increased rate of occurrence or just not as easy to cover up as in the past, I am not sure which).
Edit: Thanks for nothing Ksandra. This has jack shit to do with Gamergate.
male privilege is coming out against a female abuser and having public and legal opinions be that you are the abuser for doing so
When he asked her if he could visit – you know, so she didn’t have to give up being a good hostess – she said no way, she was working way too hard. When he asked if there was something wrong, if there was a reason she didn’t want to see him, she told him he was crazy for thinking that that might be the case. God. Honestly. She just had a lot of work, and she didn’t need some clingy programmer getting on her case when she had guests. Don’t be ridiculous. Don’t be so possessive.
The bunch of people crashing at her place that week, by the way, were actually just one person, who she was sleeping with. She made up the other two. Total fabrication.

Eron’s behavior when gearing up to hang out with me – mentioning my name, saying we were getting coffee or food or something vague because we were shitty at planning – matched the behavior Zoe used when she was gearing up to meet with anyone she had been cheating on Eron with. Since this was stressful for her to observe, she manipulated Eron into saying he would cut me off.
(He did, by the way. It was about a week of more-or-less radio silence. Eron wasn’t rude when I messaged him, but it was pretty clear he had other priorities. So did I: I’d just received a penciled-in diagnosis of fibromyalgia and had to shave my head about it. He contacted me directly once, to ask if I’d like to get emails about job openings at his workplace. Three days later, I woke up to the message about her cheating and his breakup. He apologized.)
He showed me the logs of their Facebook messages about me. They went on for pages. At one point, he tells her that, look, my friend Rachel, she’s having a rough time right now, she just got laid off and she doesn’t have insurance, her Crohn’s is acting up, she’s in mental crisis and so is one of her close friends, and she has PTSD from sex abuse that makes her really adverse to non-platonic physical contact, like, me cutting her off because you think she’s trying to sleep with me is just not reasonable —
“Excuse me,” Zoe interrupts, finally, “if I don’t trust her at all on that. Whatsoever.”
This person wrote Depression Quest and advocates for mental illness awareness and survivors of sexual violence. This person waved aside my described symptoms with a single line, because she didn’t want me near her boyfriend.

In the last ten weeks, my buddy’s face has been attached to a Vice article about 4chan’s Vivian James and included in a photomontage of career misogynists, serial assaulters, and child rapists (I asked the author of the article what was up with that. No response).
He’s been issued a restraining order by Zoe including a prior restraint on free speech. On September 30th, this restraining order—and gag order on speaking about his own abuse—was upheld in Massachusetts courts for another year.
...
Being on Eron’s side—not as part of Gamergate, as such, considering my lack of gaming, but as his friend—is weird. On Twitter, I follow my favorite authors and artists, all women, and most of them have either directly or indirectly referred to my friend as a misogynistic crybaby jilted ex.
I want to attempt to set the record straight, here: Eron broke up with Zoe, that last time. If anything, Zoe was jilted. Words mean things, y’all.
That’s my main point, through a couple thousand of them. People like Zoe Quinn, who twist your words against you, who use your diagnoses as weapons and your childhood stories as ammo in legal action, make words mean completely different things. And they do that willfully, with the intent to harm.
That was an excellent read.
Thinking back, it's fascinating how quickly things can be redirected from attacking one obviously psychotic and abusive woman into "attacking any woman means you're anti-woman." It's a similar trick to what Muslims often do with the Islamophobia nonsense. An entire group of people becomes immune to criticism because somehow criticizing one particular person is the same as hating the entire group.
Mayhaps. Its difficult to respond, even to this, without an idea of what the term means.
That aside; I find it to be hilarious that Brianna Wu thought her interview by David Pakman was a "hit piece" when he lays into Milo a ton harder and even this seems pretty fair (to me) for the most part. That last question was totally unrelated and seemed a little unfair in this context but it just goes to show that when you've got a victim mentality even relative softballs seem like some sort of attack.
