Specifically it seems that his comments on SVU/GG are actually what got him fired. Strong evidence indicates if you look at the timeline of events where he tweets calling gamers subhuman garbage (Gamers, remember, being the core audience for the institution he represents), his boss then makes a comment about subhuman, bobbo tries to backpedal faster than a feminist can scream rape, gets fired anyway. There was a loud clamor on The Escapists forums just before his firing.

What's really telling is his mouthing off after the fact. Nothing like showing everyone your true colors to validate everyone's opinions of you. For those who dont know, after he was let go, he's done almost nothing but mouth off against his former employer. Truly the best way to show future employers that you're a sensible reliable adult is to completely overreact to a situation and behave like a spoiled child.

It's fucking hilarious watching him shit on old school film critics calling any film made post Star Wars the devils work, then turning around and spouting his fanboy drivel about how any non Nintendo game released after 2001 is also the devils work. For christ sake he made 2 videos about how if you don't like how Samus was portrayed in Other M you are a giant bigot against traditional Japanese values or something along those lines.

I'm curious. How many posters here have actually gotten online death threats? I don't mean CoD trash talk, I mean an ominous message sitting in your inbox somewhere, or someone using your personal identity/information. I sure as hell never have.

hilariously back in ffxi days I had people do this to me, I ignored them. Turned out ok it seems. They seemingly realized it wasn't affecting me and switched tactics.

I'm not questioning the validity, I'm asking what the actual threat was and whether included the doxx as part of the threat.

Here's why I ask. The RESPONSES that these women have had to doxx threats has been criticized by a lot of people as well. Let's move past whether "the threats were real" since it's not something either side has presented enough evidence to convince the other side. With the base assumption being that some sort of threat like that has been posed to them, why is their responses "dramatic" or "exaggerated" or whatever else (going to the police, leaving home, publishing the threats online)? How is that response going to be different for anyone else who would get those threats?

numbers said that anyone within the public sphere should expect to get those threats and should easily know what the proper response to every type of threat should be. Is there a course you're supposed to take before you enter the public sphere that teaches you these things? These women were nobodies before mouthbreathers noticed their articles/videos/work/etc. It's not like they had an agent that sat them down and said "Your life is going to change, you should prepare yourself". I plan on entering the public sphere, can you please direct me to any resources you have on the matter? I'd like to be prepared for all the death and rape threats that I'll receive.

Uh, yeah. Report it to the authorities who are experts on the subject matter. Don't let either side tell you whether or not the harassment claims were real or not. Take it to an independent expert to verify the veracity of the claims. Take for example Anita's Utah speech cancelation. She reported it to the authorities, the authorities reviewed the claim, they then determined there was no credible threat. Why have experts if you dont listen to them?

Yes, as I mentioned, it's pretty easy to find me.

This threat in particular was "I know you live at X, I have found you and will kill you".

I won't pretend that most people wouldn't find that a little disturbing, but let's be real, these threats are virtually never serious. The class of crazy you need to be to actually follow through with threats is gernally the exact opposite of the kind of crazy who actually makes these threats. The ones who actually go through with it rarely give you a heads up, they just do it.

In retrospect I probably should of at least reported in to the police, but eh, I was a much younger more foolish man at the time(the kind who pissed someone off enough to get threats!)

Never been a fan of the "It's the internet!" defense, but doing anything about really isn't a one-man job. That said, while I've been on the receiving end of some ire I wouldn't exactly call healthy over the years, I have had a lady friend of mine flushed out and harassed in the past because she broke off an online relationship. Dude creeped her in XI until she lost any motivation to play, basically perpetually recreating mules to harass her and goaded some buddies to ruin her EXP parties by killing mobs while GMs just told her to blacklist and move on. Guy eventually found some social media stuff and used that to escalate the issue to the point I had her contact her local PD. Whether or not they did anything about it to stop him or the assmunch just got bored, I dunno, but there's certainly a fine line between some trash talk and e-stalking. Otherwise, I've kinda given up on giving her advice about guys since she's perpetually ignored it and picked up some real "winners" over time, including one that knocked her up and tried moving across the country as if that'd absolve him of child support.
