It appears that the pro-gamergaters that felt the movement was about journalistic integrity feel they have completed their directive.

I'd rather you had said SOME instead of "the". Far from ALL have this opinion and as far as I know the updated terms on their websites are A) Voluntary and B) Don't cover all of the things (paid reviews, undisclosed relationships, publisher bonuses like early copies for reviews, etc). Not to mention that we're still finding stuff that was never disclosed in the past that they wouldnt disclose if we werent finding it; probably hoping it would just slide under the radar.

The more extreme of the crowds thing some places cant be reformed. Even if they say they will their clickbait nonsense is obviously their main business strategy instead of journalism and some believe that they wont ever give up their ways.

Yes but no. I think you'll see a shift in the way politics are presented and perceived but the gamers probably wont self identify any differently than they did before. My assertion is that this is a side effect of the parties extremeism and the peoples recent activism towards moderate.

I've always self-identified as republican, but no one would ever have guessed that from me after having spoken to me. Forgive me but I recently watched the Newsroom for the first time so I'm still sort of blown away at how it exactly portrays my own feelings and views on the part of the main character, Will McAvoy.

I dont know if that guy was serious or if you were but in either case holding this belief is retarded. This belief of let's continue to call it brogressiveism would stem because you're looking at a community as a whole that's filled of people from lots of different backgrounds and trying to shoe horn it into one belief structure. You cant just do that. That's like saying all of America is brogressive because on the whole you have the same sort of thing. The community is too large with too wide spread ideals to be able to accurately or even meaningfully identify them as any one thing other than by the definition of why they chose to congregate there in the first place (IE people who play video games, or even more accurately people who have played a specific MMO because maybe not all of those people regularly play games and might not self identify as "gamers"). This is the same problem with republicans and democrats becoming so extreme in the first place. It's completely possible to believe in the concept of "social welfare" as in your example for one specific program "student loan forgiveness" and be against other programs inside the same concept such as "welfare checks".

My bad, I usually try not to use all encompassing words when making statements about groups of people.

I assume it's voluntary because they see the way the wind is blowing and realize that they can't alienate their readers/consumers.

Of course it doesn't cover all the things. They are doing as you said, trying to keep as much hidden as possible to not prove everyone else right. Up until now they've been working in this weird grey ethical environment. Until people start slapping them on the wrist saying "Hey dipshit, that's clearly not in the grey area, smarten the fuck up" they don't know what they feel they should have to include in these policies.

But after Brietbart carried the gg torch coupled with the war on SJWs and "liberal dems", do you think we can expect to see the waters muddy and become more balanced or was GG too niche to really cause anything like that or are the people that hate SJWs sane enough to not do something so silly?

Tonight was lovely, got greeted by being called out as a misogynist shitlord upon entering. Grabbed beer and talked to more people than I've talked to in the past several months.
I was somewhat on the fence about what this movement was, but after tonight it's pretty clear to me that this is anything but a hate movement. I swear I ended up talking about video games more than journalism or social justice tonight. This movement is comprised of people who like video games. Nothing more and nothing less. We had every demographic under the sun including an amputee who had to get assistance to make it up the stairs to where the party was.

Once Sommers and Milo finally showed up there was some meet and greet followed by a speech of sorts. Turns out Based Mom is super quiet IRL, while Milo is noisy and flamboyant. Much laughter, cheering and peanut gallery shouting was had by all. The venue was absolutely packed. Reddit told me 16 people were coming, but I'd say we were closer to 100, although I may be bad at estimates. Basically the floor was packed to the point where you couldn't move too freely to go grab another beer. Lots of people, lots of interesting conversations to be had on all manner of subjects.

About two hours into it they brought in a DJ who turned on music and blasted it way too loud and everyone was like "what the fuck is this shit? HOw are we supposed to hold a conversation with this going on?"
So I went over and asked him to turn it down at which point I was informed our party had been over for about half an hour. So a number of us wandered downstairs and continued talking. At some point we ended up outside for a smoke break and shortly thereafter they evacuated the venue. Even on the ground level I didn't get a consistent story about what it was. I heard everything from bomb threat to fire alarm to "this is just what they do at clubs in DC on Friday night". The long and short of it was that everyone was outside so the decision was made to bar hop. However which bar we would be going to was not openly disclosed, as there was speculation about twitter fucking with us, so Milo was scouting ahead to find a bar and would relay it via social media while somehow not relaying it openly via social media. Dunno the specifics because I don't twitter, but we ended up outside another bar by a dunkin donuts with a huge ass line at which point I decided to call it a night.

Before tonight I had some reservations about Gamergate, but after seeing all these people and having so many conversations...I'm all in. This is people pushing back against thoughtcrime and the demonization of the hobby we all hold dear.
