That video is fucking amazing.
That video is fucking amazing.
Video reminded me of this thread
Haven't looked, but have there been any videos posted on youtube of GGers doing class presentations about GG? Cause I imagine they'd be awfully similar to when bronies do that shit, and it always cracks me the fuck up.
I haven't seen any yet, but I know there are a few class papers floating around.
Niche Gamer had an interview with Dennis Dyack about journalism (among other things) and part 2 in particular focuses on GamerGate quite a bit.

Unsurprisingly, the appearance is that much of the industry actually supports #GG. Most don't want to say it publicly and deal with the anti-GG lynch mob.
Devs getting tired of being told their game is shit because it doesn't meet impossible ideological standards or they didn't pay off the right people? Makes sense to me.

Pretty much, as a game dev myself the amount of incest in this industry is just downright sickening, like I'm constantly torn between having some sense of self and doing things that are just obviously beneficial to me(like bribing journalists for good press, ridiculously easy and expected...and ultimately only benefits me).
Of course many in the industry want unbiased game reviews.
But do they want to demonize a woman for cheating on her boyfriend? Because that's what makes it GamerGate.
Wait, did we discover the mythological review she received from a dude she banged yet, or is that unicorn still in the imagination of little boys' dreams?
You're focusing too much on the details, archie. It's the idea of the thing that inspires a movement, not necessarily that it actually happened.
Pesky movement-defining details!
It's not a review that a lot of people have a problem with. There isn't one. I believe he mentioned a few one liner comments just saying the game was a nice change or something. From what I understand, it's the fact that he was donating to her patreon and is mentioned in the credits as a special thank you but not letting people know that he had some sort of relationship, physical or otherwise, with her.
There may be more going on than I've seen, but those are what I've taken in about that whole situation. I believe anyone you ask that is a GG supporter will say that the treatment she received was out of line.
So...it's not about ethics in gaming journalism?
God I could just do this forever
For some it is, for other's it's not.
