Because, and I think this point has been made a bit better than I was trying to in some recent threads following last weeks South Park episode, people like Nyberg and people who are SJW's and whatnot are not following a cause because they believe in it. They are following a cause because it is an outlet or a means to fit in, somewhere.

You could say that being an SJW is a religion, just like tons of people who watch football every sunday and think the cheatriots stole 23 super bowls in the last 10 years have the NFL as their religion. If you don't truly enjoy or believe in something, it is more likely that to compensate for that lack of conviction you will be evermore vehement and blinded to anything than the narrow focus to which you've devoted yourself. (An NFL team, Bruce Jenner is a hero, whatever)

Edit: I should say, actual religion is manipulative and man-made enough to where truly believing forces a person to be akin to your typical Tumblrina.

they never will because that would be admitting, even in the most slightest of degrees, that they are wrong. And in their deluded mind they are ABSOLUTELY 100% not wrong with anything they say, do or think. Which is rather worrying imo because this type of mindset seems to be becoming the majority. The first comment on the article was about how it was all GG too. I find it very hard to believe that the people that are asking for these talks/conversations to happen are the ones trying to shut them down.

Is there a place that had a description of the talks themselves?

The anti-GG panels actually came out and commented on this, they said they had absolutely no idea there was any threats being called in until their panel got cancelled.

Not surprising, considering the threats were likely not directed at theirs.

This GamerGate fiasco has really turned into a pseudo New Age Feminist Movement bullshit you see in the Feminist thread. It's probably been like that the whole time, just never really cared to pay it any mind.

It's essentially a microcosm of the GOP situation.
A section has goals they want to pursue, (clearing out shoddy VG journalism, and a degree of not letting a moral panic like situation steer VG production), but not enough bodies to have any influence to see their goals achieved.
So allies were accepted to increase numbers, but these allies were batshit and fucking awful, and can't seem to be gotten rid of.

I still think a lot of it is that there's a metric fuckton of shitty journalism being fueled by a particular ideology, so there was a shift to pushing back against the ideology and maybe the initial goals got lost in the shuffle. There's still too much dust to clearly see what's what at the moment from where I'm sitting.

Pretty much. That's probably because the entire thing started off with the discovery of the deeply incestuous relationship between game journalists and game developers. That game developer just so happens to be one of those new age feminists you mentioned. So yeah, we discovered two problems at once. Some people are only against the ideology being pushed so strongly into their hobby, some are only against the game journalists who have an ethical responsibility to be impartial for the benefit of their readers, and some people are against both.

Pushing an agenda into your game is fine, the problem is that if you don't submit to this agenda then you are ostracized by your neckbeard coworkers.

Kojima's games are very clearly influenced by specific themes and the games push that agenda throughout the series. An often overlooked theme is the bond between soldiers and their willingness (or desire) to die for each other, rather than a political agenda. Japanese devs aren't a good example though, they've pretty consistently not given a fuck about American pussies commenting on their design decisions.

The most hilarious thing I read in this vein was (I think) the Bio-Shock team apologizing for a strip club in one of their games. Something to the effect of, "Looking back on this, I don't think it was a good idea and we shouldn't have done it".

Reading things that like tell me the person is a bitch and their opinion will never be relevant to me again.
