4 is my favorite, mostly because it's the first one I played.

8 was best
I'm on board with 9 as well. There's nothing I dislike about it.
I never played 9. I did watch 90 minutes worth of cutscenes trying to play 9 and quit.
4 always the greatest, 6 close behind. 7 and 8 after that and then 12.

6 was the best, then 4 from the main line. Tactics is the best overall. Not gonna include 11 and 14 because they are so detached.
lol, for a second I thought this was the captain marvel thread, but I’m 100% on board with this, also I have a soft spot for 3 and 5 cause I like the job system a lot, but 6 is the best ff storyline, also people only like tactics cause it’s a tactics rpg, vandal hearts 1+2 (especially 2) did it better, come at me![]()
See? This movie is attracting such "eh" hype that it's now a video game thread. We ain't even talking about the same entertainment medium anymore.

VI might have the best overall cast but its not the best story theres a limit to how deep your can go with a villain like Kefka who's just a nutter who wants to blow up world.
Disagree, Kefka's insanity might have limited his capacity as a villain, especially after he won and left little more to explore, but the real story was about how these people came together and hope even after the apocalypse.

Also I'm still very excited for Captain Marvel. The Kree-Skrull War playing out on the big screen is gonna be amazing.

Why has nobody picked the game that brought us all together? FF11
This forum would not exist without FFXI.
QED XI is the worst FF.
After XIII, of course.
I actually had a nightmare about the grind from XI the other day... ugh.
If tactics is eligible for best of than Mystic Quest wins worst game hands down
Favorite and objective best are two different things...it's hard to choose an objective best - since you need to work out the criteria to take into account that makes something the "best" compared to all the others in its category - but it's easy to choose a favorite. My favorite is XII, but objectively the best? The systems, characters and stories are all so different, it's almost impossible because you're inevitably comparing apples to oranges.
I recognize that XII is most likely objectively not the best. It has a shoehorned-in main character for the sake of sellability, half of FF fans hate the gambit system, the eidolons you work so hard to obtain that are even part of the main story are next to useless in battle, and the story itself is so thick with difficult, archaic language (mmmm), intricate lore and politics that it entirely puts off half the people who pick it up. It's like playing "The Silmarillion: The Game". It didn't sell as well as other titles and has had much less staying power in the franchise than the bigger hits, arguably due to lack of an obviously strong main character who can embody the game.
Marvel movies however...is there a way to pick an objective best? Or is it just as difficult as the FF franchise?
Ah well it doesn't matter either way :D
