Did they buff the exp after heavensward came out? I remember going through the MSQ and whatever side quests in each region and still occasionally being too low level for whatever new dungeon or new MSQ every once and a while

Fates in HW xp are buffed, anything past that I don't recall.
Has there been any word on if they are extending the 100% Armory Bonus to level 60 now with Stormblood release?
Okay I looked it up my whm is 50 and drag is 34 war 32. I remember having trouble getting to 50 so hearing about quest xp being better is nice. But this palace place will help level my level 30s?
The lv1-49 Armory bonus was 50% in ARR, but in HW it became 100% for lv1-49 (while staying at 50% for lv50-59). People are guessing/hoping the bonuses will go up again in a similar manner but there's been no direct confirmation that I can remember.
Cool. Should I hop in now and play whm or wait for patch? Should I even bother with whm lol. Obviously I fizzled out in 2.0 on it.
I'd say go for it if you want to be ready to jump in 4.0 when the content patch hits (If you still have some story to do).
I really don't think WHM is gonna as bad as AST was at 3.0 launch. (Like people locking out the job from DF bad).
Did you guys say there were some kind of scroll of resurrection or thing for players coming back like a free week or month?
I just got Glamour unlocked. Are the Relic/Zodiac/Anima weapons worth pursuing and are they less crazy gilwise than a 75 Relic in FFXI was for years and 1500 Heavy Metal Plate Empyrean? I have some friends who help me with fights when the Duty Finder isn't very cooperative, so killing random stuff isn't a huge deal. edit: I ask because I did Spharai up to the point it was glowy yellow and cool looking and it seems that they alternate between that and not glowing and just looking like Voltron Hands as you advance the quests and wasn't sure if I should just Glamour something else that'll do decent damage as I get to higher iLevels (went from 50 -> ~105 like about an hour with Temple/Melee set and a trip to the market board for accessories and am at ~115 with some Iron Works set stuff from Poetic currency gear in Rowena's town). Then a quest later it wasn't glowy anymore.
And a player ettiquette question: "Yellow is fair game" and all that in FFXI, but random people seem less talky in FFXIV since you can do so much by yourself, do people consider it rude to kill random stuff attacking them?
Relics aren't really worth pursuing unless you have a lot of free time or really like the looks of one of them. They are much less crazy gil-wise than XI as gil is relatively useless in XIV and most of making a weapon is just a timesink they attempted to disguise as "content". You can bang out a full ARR relic in a few days now if you work at it. I wouldn't bother making a HW relic with SB so close now - weapons in SB will be a higher ilvl anyway and it is still very time-consuming to make a HW relic, as for some reason they haven't nerfed the most time/resource-consuming steps despite being at the end of HW's life cycle.
If you're looking for a good monk fist glamour, check out the Makai pvp weapon. It's my favorite mnk weapon glam by a mile, and it glows. Or just look up the end result of each relic and see if it's something you want to make as a glam.
As for etiquette, if I see someone killing something that's not a FATE or hunt mob I will leave it alone unless they're about to die. I think people do prefer that you leave "their" mobs alone; there are plenty of mobs and the respawn rate is quick. But on the other hand, since everyone gets shared credit for every mob, no one would ever have a really good reason to chew you out over helping to kill their mob, either. So I would say avoid it if it's not a big deal for you to get the kill credit on it.
Okay there's definitely a callback campaign going on someone invite me to return lol
In the 4 years this game has been out, not once have I ever - under any circumstances - seen someone complain about me killing a mob they "claimed." Shared credit pretty much takes care of that.
There are certain situations, like FATEs, levequests, etc., where you will be unable to attack a mob that is "part of someone else's duty." In those cases, obviously you won't be able to interfere. But outside of that, there really is no "leave me alone" etiquette that I've ever seen.
So, I'm planning to return this week or the next, in preparation to Stormblood.
I left around august when HW came out, so I really didn't do much in terms of progress (pretty much Alexander on normal and Bismarck EX, didn't get to do Ravana EX), and my gear should be horribly outdated. Did return once in a free log in campaign that December and tried out the new dungeons and Void Ark, but pretty much only that.
My goal is to finish up the HW story, try out the dungeons and Void Ark raids I missed, and maybe run the (normal version) Alexander raids I missed (the second and third instalments) if I have time. All while preparing myself somewhat for Stormblood.
Considering I want to level up RDM right of the bat, what preparations should I make (in terms of gear and quests) to make things easier? I'm not going to raid seriously any more, but rather enjoy the story and new content, but I always have the mind set of being efficient and doing things good, almost as if I were to raid the next day.
Oh, jobs! I have SMN/SCH at 60 (but I pretty much only geared/used SMN), and I also have WAR at 60 and geared it somewhat back then too. Crafts, nothing relevant, I wanted to get Goldsmith to 60 but got bored quickly, so it's 52 or 53.
You'll want to unlock Palace of the Dead, and then clear at least the first 50 floors before SB hits then. Running Floors 51-60 repeatedly will almost certainly be the fastest way to level RDM and SAM (and any other DPS). Getting your Aetherpool gear as high as you can will also be helpful to make the leveling experience faster.
Otherwise you'll need to get to i235 or so to clear the current story quests. PVP is probably the fastest way to gear up for that.
The fastest way to i235 currently is if you get yourself some garo gear from the pvp vendor. You'll lack accuracy, but since accuracy is being taken away in SB, it's a good way to get a nice little boost.
I have the same mindset as you. So if I were you...
If you haven't finished the HW missions you will obviously have to do that before Stormblood. I would pick one of WAR or SCH since you already have them leveled and they get quick queues, buy some catch-up gear on the MB if you can afford it, and run through the story missions to the end - shouldn't take more than a couple days. If you are stuck without enough gil to buy catch-up gear, or have no one to craft it for you, then I suggest grabbing a Makai pvp set, but you will have to do kind of a lot of pvp for a full set if you don't already have wolf marks. You can gear yourself to i245 (iirc) from story dungeons, if you want to run those and grab the loots. Don't bother being optimal right now in gear and setup - the whole game is literally gonna change in a couple weeks so just focus on being "good enough" and banging out that storyline so you can start SB right away.
I would PF Alex normal if you want to knock those out. In my experience, people don't queue for those regularly anymore because the rewards are outdated and there's no reason to run them aside from clearing once. I wouldn't bother with crafters unless you really want to put some elbow grease into leveling them - crafting is such a niche thing right now anyway, it's not anywhere near necessary to have aside from maybe repairing your gear on the fly.
Aha, so, Palace of the Death first and foremost, and I'll also see if I can get a piece of PvP gear with the little PvP points I have.
As for PF, I'll see if I can contact some of my old FC mates and ask the favor. On normal difficulty they shouldn't have much problem carrying me.
