i looked at the ffxiv subreddit once, front page was full of fanart and screenshots. never again
The only time you're going to get information from r/ffxiv is either when a big content patch drops (And the 2 weeks after that) or when a big media blitz happens.
I do go there to read stuff around patches mostly, but one thing I need it for are fashion reports info
Redmage is fun but also mega-easy. When I want to play brainlessly and just get through shit with minimal thinking outside of whatever mechanics I need to know about, I choose Rdm lol. And with the changes coming in ShB, it looks to remain brainlessly easy which I'm more then okay with lol.
I only have Rogue at 15 so I can't comment on how easy or hard Ninja is. Dragoon is my main go-to. It's pretty easy for the most part but the DPS rotation is kind of long and repetitive. The positionals are easy too and with the removal of Heavy Thrust just got a bit easier. And at 70, maintaining Blood of the Dragon is really easy too and again will only get easier with ShB from the looks of things.
Edit: And yeah, I check reddit purely for fashion reports. Otherwise it's just filled with excessive amounts of fan art
Dragoon looks like its going to be the big boy DPS. Either you're good at it or you're shit. Just make a trigger for True Thrust and bully your DRG.
It's really not hard at all, especially with how slowly it integrates the rotation in as you level. By the time you get to the current full rotation at 70, it becomes pretty instinctual as to what to press and when. From the looks of the Shadowbringer changes, it seems like it'll pretty much stay the same, but instead of hitting Heavy Thrust at the beginning of your rotation, you'll be starting with True Thrust (which'll change to Raiden Thrust once you unlock it and get the rotational requirement)
Plus, using shit like Elusive jump to dodge AoE's is and looks badass as fuck! (Unless you use it to jump off a platform >_>).
Just need to get used to the timing of Jumps as far as when to use it during some mechanics so you don't get caught in AoEs and shit
To expand on what Vaspinne said. DRG is a very low IQ job.
You have a rotation. You stick to the rotation. The hard part is making sure you don't miss your positionals because of bonus potency. In 5.0 5 out of 10 GCDs will have a positional (3 of 5 are back) and 7 out of 10 GCDs are affected by it.
You don't have to think about blood of the dragon anymore since it starts at 30 secs and life also starts at 30 seconds. Its just making sure you use the correct opener and you align your oGCDs properly and utilize them during raid buff windows and yatta yatta.
I like it because I don't like having to maintain a priority system. I got my rotation and I stick to it.
i played ninja in raid a few patches and its not fun, if you have a hardcore group they micromanage your trickattack and if you cant raiton without clipping lmao@ur dps
also too many buttons and too much autism required for nin/brd/mch
Yeah, I liked Bard a lot in 2.0 for being chill/lazy. 3.0 when it basically became a caster was lame and in 4.0 it became waaaaaay to micro-manage'y for my liking. Hence the jump to brainless Rdm :D
Well that helps a lot.
What about warrior is that a ton less buttons? Game has too many buttons needs some pruning lol. I'll lean to drg for now.
Every job has too many damn buttons and they've actually done a decent job culling down how many you have to constantly press. Like DRG Is losing 2 buttons from their GCD so you have 7 different buttons to press for that but we're gaining one oGCD that you'll press while you're in life of the dragon. (Or what I like to call SSJ2)
Most jobs I can get away with 6 GCD buttons and then the rest is oGCD bullshit.
If you don't like buttons play healer in ShadowBringers lol. They pretty much dumped most of their skillset and you'll be using 3-4 buttons at best in most content anyway, can't get more braindead than that.
If shit hits the fan blame the WHM or the tank.
So whm is the most basic fewest button and keypress healer, rdm the DPS, and war the tank?
Sounds like you're set!
All healers are basic in the upcoming expansion really and they all have mostly the same healing abilities with different names. You can have the same keybinds for all three and get things right 90% of the time.
So it's basically which aesthetic and animations you like the most.
WHM will probably be the most fun to play though, can't beat Assize and Holy spam in dungeons.
How far did you get with WHM? Healers are extremely boring in low level content so if you don't enjoy it just forget about them. WHM really gets fun in the 50s imo when you get more fun tools, before that it's a slog of epic proportions.
