Yeah, the gist of how combat skills work is you unlock them either through leveling or doing quests, all of which are soloable. So pay attention to your main scenario quest notification in the upper left since class quests for the job you're on will appear under it when available.

    Anyway...

As for guides, no idea. But I basically just crafted the highest available Ishgard craft for whatever class I was on en masse until the next one was unlocked and viable to do. Will get a lot of those kupo fortune coupons this way too so make sure you turn those in and get shit every time you hit the 10 cap. Some decent glamour items and a mount and etc etc can be had

Also you go through levels FAST, so do yourself a favour and keep your gear sets on hand so you don't have to just keep buying them over and over. And don't waste your time on like the 50 af sets. The level 51 gear outclasses it easily lol (think the 61 and 71 sets are similar too, albeit scrip gear might be just as good or better for a couple levels like tome gear is on battle classes)
That was the plan. Between my around 5ish sets of DOW/M gear I can't desynth and my retainers being full I'm trying to limit how much gear I buy so I was thinking of getting everything to 55, then 60, and so on until they can all share a single gear set.

Oh and speaking of scripts are there any good timer sites for gathering nodes? I tried 3 but they all had some bugs/etc. with them with false positive alerts, not showing the time for the 2nd cycle, etc.

I lost my link since I hopped to a new PC, but assuming one time is correct, 12 hours later from the start would be the other for a given node. As for leveling DoL, they significantly boosted leve EXP, so a good gear set for every 10 levels is likely to last you through the range. Don't need full melds, but HQs would be strongly encouraged. Having a friend make them would otherwise help on budget. And cost is also where I'd start analyzing Ishgard turn-ins. I think buying triple turn-in leve items is the easier route with how easy it is for crafters to HQ sub-71 things. Going 70-80 in Ishgard is then a matter of how much the gatherables cost, though aren't hard to get max turn-in if you follow the guides/min reqs out there. If you are strapped for cash, though, I'd say get your gathers up first. And whatever recipes you're looking at, make sure it's not an inactive restoration stage since some gatherables can no longer be acquired.

ffxivclock.com is the one I use when I need it. The UI is a bit janky but overall it gives me what I need

I use this website for my timers:

    https://garlandtools.org/bell/

and then for hunting down glamor gear, I use this website:

    https://www.ffxivcollection.com/

The glamor site starts in japanese but click on the flag in the top corner and it'll change to english

I guess I'm officially returning too. I quit 4 1/2 years ago, when I had just reached Heavesnward. Now I'm capped at level 60 after the two week free trial, so I just bought ShadowBringers so I can keep going.
Trying to remember any sort of rotation (DRG) after that long was tough, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

Dragoon rotation is easy as fuck. Do the chaos thrust combo followed by the full thrust combo and just sprinkle in all the jumps and shit in between hits. Until you get your full tool kit, you do chaos thrust once to get the attack buff and put the dot on the target and then just spam the full thrust combo until you need to re-up the buff and dot

Wheeling Thrust and Fang & Claw were kind of confusing at first because which one proc'd used to be random, but now they're set as to which combo procs which one (which is also tied to where they need to be positionally for max potency for even more convenience)

And yeah, use the AoE combo for any groups if 3 or more mobs.

I agree that Drg rotation definitely became easier to work with especially at lvl 80, optimizing is a different beast to time your LotD’s together with a buff like Lance Charge (formerly blood for blood), Dragon Sight, and/or Battle Litany.

I just got Wheeling thrust, which has definitely made it easier to keep up BotD since I can re-up after both combos now. I don't think I have an AoE combo yet, mostly just Dragonfire Dive. But I'll look it up in case I've missed anything.

I think by the AoE combo they mean the linear attack which I think at 60 you have 2/3 of the skills.

That makes sense. I haven't used doom spike much since I couldn't combo it. It looks like I get Geirskogul at 60 (I Just dinged 60 last night, so I haven't done the quest yet). Then Sonic Thrust at 62 is the second combo action.

Yeah that. It's not the best AoE attack set out there but it gets the job done. At least once you get Lance Mastery your rotation is much more fluid than it is now.

But it feels so satisfying when you throw a combo’d Coerthan Torment fully buffed with Life Surge.

Okay so crafting leveling... does the Ishgard Restoration stuff go faster as I level up? I spent last night in Diadem gathering mats for Alchemist and between making stuff to turn in for Ishgard and turning in stuff for the scripts the latter seemed to be significantly faster.

Gathering in diadem is much slower than crafting. If your sole purpose is to level gathering jobs, leves are the fastest way to go. However gathering your own materials in diadem will level you slower but you’ll save money on mats to level up your crafting job. Just different paths.

Can I still level if I'm capped in a Eureka zone? For context I'm 51 but Hydatos is crawl so was wondering if I could do NM trains in Pyros.

You can. Before the place was nerfed heavily, I'd just work on challenge logs every week in Anemos while way over the level of that place.

That's what I usually do but after you do the elemental ones you're SoL unless you got a good Ashkin/Elemental spawn nearby. Even then it's 1-2 levels/week doing that.

You *can* but your xp will be much better riding the NM train in your current zone. Your mileage will vary on how popular the zones are but Eureka is still pretty populated on Primal data center, especially the weekends. There are discord servers where people coordinate and if you want to make your Eureka experience go faster I’d definitely check it out.

Makes sense, but trying Hydros at 51 seems suicidal.
