Thanks for the info all, turns out it was like Prothescar said, just took about 4 hours. Just my first experience with this. All Good.

Can you only buy old event items from the vendors if you previously did the event quests? I think I missed an old Moonfire event, but the vender is just giving me fireworks.
If you missed the previous events, the only way to get the old items is from the cash shop.
DOL question:
If I want to farm IX/X materia is it best to grab the i560 gear or is there a trick to raising spiritbonding on Pactmaker/i590 gear?
Do I need to do something special to use the /blacklist command? I've had the same idiot send me with FC invites over the weekend and today and since they didn't get the hint I want to blacklist them but I keep getting a '"PLAYER NAME" is not a valid PC name' message even though I typed it correctly.
You just highlight their name in the log and open the menu, add to blacklist is one of the options
Right click method aside, would also make sure they're not using an I for a lowercase L. Manual may also need the @servername or quotes around the name, but don't quote me on that.
Unless I missed something looks like they removed the ability to specify a user with commands like /target, /blacklist, etc. due to naming syntax changes because of crossworld.
Oh well. Fucker pulled the same crap today so I just stalked them til I found them and was able to blacklist them that way.
The problem with FC invites is there isn't any way to blacklist them. All you get is a message saying "You have received a free company invite from PLAYER" but the name is just a string so you can't right click it and add them.
Wow, a bot using a script from two expansions ago.
Was it 2? I thought they removed that 5 point stat thing eons ago.
After a roughly 8-year absence, I've decided to reinstall XIV and play again. The last time I played was soon after turns 6 to 9 came out. I had just gotten the weapon off of Twintania, so of course I'm a badass lvl 50 with all the best gear, ready to take on the ... wait, cap is 90 now? Well what the hell??!
So where the hell do I start at this point? Are there still any linkshells around here? I need a guide. And maybe a babysitter. Any suggestions?
Incidentally I quit before the first expansion came out. Best thing to just buy everything from SE store?
Don't do yourself disservice and buy a story skip, you're basically at the point when the story gets really good and will keep that trajectory for the most part (2nd expansion is a mixed bag in general depending on who you ask).
Just follow the MSQ quest and enjoy the ride.
I haven't even finished the pre-expansion stories. I have always loved the FF stories, so I certainly wouldn't skip them.
What should I do first? Yesterday I spent a while just getting everything reinstalled, find my account, log in, etc. Then trying to remember how to equip gear and change jobs. Should I just jump right back into story quests? Or maybe level first?
On a side note, I never bought heavensward. I guess that's just included in the normal game now? And it looks like I can just buy the newest expansion and I get the rest as well?
Yeah, I think HW is now included in the starter edition of the game and yeah, buying Endwalker will give you all the prior expansions.
You can go straight to story quests, with how much exp those give you will soon be overleveled for them anyway.
Since you're 50, the quests will keep you leveled alongside doing daily dungeons. But yeah, just play. HW will introduce aether currents, which you'll need to find in a zone to unlock flying in that specific zone, but other than that, just follow the markers.
Honestly, you almost get too much experience. Maybe consider leveling up 2 jobs at the same time through the MSQ to not waste exp. Not to mention most jobs are pretty basic and kinda boring until you hit 80ish anyway. Would provide some variety
My original jobs include BLM, DRG, SMN, and WHM. Are those still good? I'll definitely do BLM, but there are so many jobs now, I'm sure some are better/more useful than others as a secondary/alt?
Everything is fine as long as you play it well. At the moment Machinist lags behind other jobs in the hardest content, but that’s being nitpicky. The biggest advice I can say is to make sure you read your job action tool tips and learn your new rotations at the level caps (50, 60, 70, 80, 90). So many job actions have been outright removed or changed since you last played.
