I'm prolly fanboying abit cause Pennington was just a stud to watch play, even as a Giants fan. The injuries really held him back some years, but that guy was just awesome to watch when he was healthy. Watching him go to the Dolphins and destroy the Jets and most other teams was such a joy.

I'm just sayin, sure Pennington had one pretty good year. It wasn't particularly impressive by today's standards, and by the time they were looking at Favre, Pennington was thoroughly proven to be a guy that couldn't throw deep and would consistently throw almost exactly the same TD's as INT's even while healthy.

And Favre was actually having a pretty solid year until he got hurt.

He also completely smashed anything Pennington ever did in his next year with the Vikings.

This, Favre wasn't bad on the Jets but assuming Pennington was healthy enough to play(which was the main issue with him) I'd choose Pennington over the Jets Favre even though it's not a big difference between the two. Now Packers Favre or Year One Viking Favre is a different story, but I think just by being on the Jets Favre instantly got worse cause it's lolJets. I'm honestly trying to remember how the NY media handled him back then

Favre was at 2500 yards, 20td, 13int through 11 games before he got hurt. Dramatically better than anything Pennington ever did outside his first year starting when I'm pretty sure he never threw a single ball more than 10 or 15 yards downfield.

And while he wasn't known for deep passes he could certainly throw it deep on occasion, his motif was always tight accurate passes in short distances though. But when you are known for having a bum shoulder better to go with the safe pass to play more games, last thing Pennington needs is another blown shoulder.
