FFXIV Random Complaint Thread II: DPS can't count to potato

The damn lag in this game in instances, has been absolute unplayable the past week for some reason. Last night in WoD and KotL, I had a near constant R 12k, and today on Titan in Roulette, 3 separate times ended up freezing briefly as it spiked to 5k, causing deaths from Weight of the Land and boulders. Ever since they did the free log in, my connection is just fucked. Doesn't happen on any other game, and speed tests are within normal numbers. Friend that lives across the country was saying the same thing last night, thought it was just his pc but we had the same thing going on with different ISPs and resetting router and modem doesn't help at all.

Outside of instances, there is no lag and the Received signal is nice and low.

Really wish there was an option to display the S R numbers in the corner of the screen a la XI.

Do not like having to mouse over the little signal icon to see what's up, especially since I use a controller.

Also, the icon itself is worthless and pointless since it doesn't even change in appearance when your connection is fucking up.

Not being able to change need/greed into pass. Vice versa I understand I guess, but if I lot by mistake or want to pass to another member I can't....very dumb.

I started Sunday night/Monday AM, and already my automatic response to an unwanted tell is "left-click -> blist -> yes." I figure the blist will fill up, but then I'll dump it out and start over.

it's like really annoying pop-up ads; is this actually getting you any business?

strangely enough, that's my only real complaint so far... this game is light-years above FFXI in most respects, at least from what little I've experienced.

I dont know why people get so mad when people use LB on cloud of darkness. I used LB after first cloud adds and split adds.. no one was using lb 3. So i said fuck it, i dont use LB much on bard and used it because we are gonna get another full 3 bars. Guy in my group said "Why?" I said "Because no one was using it" "We are gonna get 3 bars anyways".. Then when it was sub 2%, no one was still not using LB 3 which we got again. So i used it again because it was gonna die before the LB animation would finsh anyways. Same guy said "Really" then left before i gave him a explanation.

200 blist entries, and there's no option to purge them all quickly. Not sure about other servers but I rarely get spam from the same bot twice.

And yeah, if you haven't played any other MMO since XI, XI's pretty lacking in a lot of UI/QoL things, heh.

Yep. It's the little things, like macro'd /echo timers to let you know when DoTs run out and when abilities are back up... stuff like that.

And oh god, when I first realized I could do other stuff while queued for Duty Finder without having to teleport back to the entrance point... that was a wonderful moment.

I do miss the pain of low-spawning non-instanced NMs with overly valuable rare loot... but that's probably the Stockholm Syndrome talking.

Farming expert dungeons for DRG glamour and haven't seen the body in fuck knows how many runs that I'm starting to question the accuracy of the drop tables.

During one run of Cloud of Darkness they had a caster do LB3 when the arena is split into the 3 areas with a mob (You can hit all 3 at once). That was really cool

Countless WoD runs, over 50 for sure, before I saw a caster body.

Just going to drop party if im in a group with a caster who doesnt have it from now on.

We're on 3 SCH books and 3 tank bodies out of 7 T13 clears. With a 1 in 10 chance each run that shit is impressive. RNG is retarded.

We ignore his request and carry on. He just sat there too.

On one hand I was happy we made him suffer but we probably only took 20 more minutes to complete WoD. On the other hand he got a free 70(?) soldiery/15 poetics out of it.

I tried to find a way to report him but without knowing the server he's on it was kinda pointless (I could've searched but at that point I thought I was expending too much effort). But I just wanted to action something on my side in the hopes he gets punished.

Honestly the more I df that the more I like saving LB for tank there in the eventuality people derp a phase, or for blm lb in case I know in advance they're gonna derp the 3 hypercharged clouds.

What's the deal with people refusing to votekick? In an event like that you're going to get a replacement instantly. If they guy is looking for a particular drop, why intentionally fuck him for no reason?

if he doesn't want to finish out the instance, he can eat the 30 minute penalty.

first, it's not always instant depending on the role. healers are the hardest to come by in WoD.

second, especially for DPS you increase the chances of someone rolling against you. originally there was only 2 casters, you vote kick some other guy now you might have 3.

third, if the other healer got something and he's saving his weekly roll for the same piece, than you can greed other healer drops from the other bosses.

if he wants it so bad, it's on him, he should deal with the consequences not the other 7 people.

After every boss in WoD it's a game of chicken to see who drops first and eats the lockout penalty, after the first one goes 1-3 more immediately disappear as well before the slot gets filled.

Breaking one thought into three parts doesn't make the consequences seem any more grave. Regardless of the role, the odds are in your favor of both a near instant replacement and not having additional competition for a particular piece

The drop system is shit, and if you're looking for something from an early boss, you may end up wasting lots and lots of time. Having them eat a 30 minute penalty because you don't feel like eating a 45 second one is a dick move.

Waiting for a healer replacement in WoD is more like a 5-10 minute wait from my experience ;o but hey, I'm eventually going to need healer gloves so I can spam Angra Mainyu by afking after that fight every time!
