As a melee I absolutely despise the 2nd boss of KotL. Last boss generally sucks for everyone because apparently nobody knows where to tank dragons. WP HM gets the occasional guy that tanks things in the standards. I think I see far less overall derp in AK HM than anywhere else.
On the topic of copy pasta landscape, I always find it funny when they completely reuse an area in a "Well, maybe nobody will notice?" kind of way. For instance, T9 is just Garudas floor with a rune stuck to it, The Chrysalis is just a recolor of Titans floor, etc.
I have a special ability/trait for the 2 dragons. When I tank them, they never move. If they do move, it's only for maybe 1 step because i need to run to the barrier. Otherwise they remain where they come alive for the duration of the fight.
I also let Granite purposely hit me. It hurts me for 700 odd tops but as I'm backed against the wall it's neglible.
If I get the fight roulette tonight I'll film it lol, if the other 3 members are good. I'm proud of never moving the dragons, it's like a mini game/self imposed challenge I like to do to alleviate boredom.
T9 is a holographic representation of Rivenroad, which was originally a part of Coerthas (before Darnus sent it flying) just like the Howling Eye. It's the reason why they share similar terrain texture.
Edit: added picture to spare you the googling.
Spoiler: show
Related complaint: RIP V1 Rivenroad and verticality in boss arenas. Hopefully 3.0 will bring some of that back but I really doubt it.
that amount of DPS loss tho when we climb up that stairs ; ; ; ; ; ;
Every new dungeon feels like a drag. Those annoying gates everywhere. Even DF can handle more than SE is allowing.
It must be an internal joke or something, now we have even "mob gates".
Oh, it makes me miss Brayflox. At least I could pull everything until after the 2nd boss.
Mobs gates everywhere because "I don't want this, so nobody can have it" mentality regarding speedruns, or so I like to tell myself anyways.
Join a Pharos Sirus group. BLM and PLD are new. Okay, whatever. Healer sees and leaves. We rep a new healer, they leave too.
It's too early in the morning for me to get the urge to drink...
Problem is, alot of people forced the SR onto others who did not feel comfortable with it, or who were just not experienced/geared for it, leading to more arm than anything positive.
If you were betting money in a Car race, would you put your money on the Brand New Aston Martin or this old http://i59.tinypic.com/2q3ngww.png?
Thats kind of what happened, and it backfired.
The problem stems from SE's sack of shit pacing in dungeons. I don't mind not being able to speed run things as long as the dungeon doesn't drag out forever.
If all dungeons took like 25-30 mins first clear and ~13-18 mins with experience that would be fine. Longer dungeons would also be fine if they were A. storyline only or B. rewarded according to length. The problem is SE doesn't take this route, they just slap the same reward on all dungeons regardless of duration.
Brayflox was the prime example of this. Nobody in their right mind wanted to do the other options because Brayflox could be done like twice as fast as the next best option.
Honestly don't see anything wrong with the way they made dungeons the last few patches.
You do dungeons in DF 90% of the time, rather than sit down and evaluate everyone's gear and competency to figure out whether they can handle large pulls or not (or just roll the dice and see if you wipe) every time you enter a dunegon you have to do a few smaller pulls than the older dungeons.
Oh noes.
(you can still do some really big pulls in most of them anyway, 2nd pull in KotL, 2nd pull in WPHM, 2nd pull in AKHM, etc)
This isn't launch when DR didn't exist and everyone had to grind AK all week to cap tomes. 1 dungeon a day is more than enough to cap you for the week and that's assuming you do nothing else.
all the new experts are faster than the last batch (looking at you snowcloak and qarn)
Yeh Snowcloak gets a bit constipated when you arrive in that Ice Cavern bit with the mobs coming in various directions.
Qarn just feels slow between the 2nd and 3rd boss.
how can you bitch about snowcloak and qarn but not satasha wtf
Snowcloak is just so chill though.
/visor
What makes KoTL such a bore are the bosses.
Qarn drags but has fun bosses.
