Awhile back I joined one group via DF, and all of us were from different servers. But we all hit it off pretty well with each other.
Was a bit angry when it was over. You never see them again.

This is the only true complaint. Isn't there an OF missed connections thread?
Edit: Damn I forgot to post a Craigslist example:
The girl who works at the liquor store in Halifax - m4w (Halifax)
contact me I want to talk to you. I think your cute. Let me know what color hair your have so I know your real.
Replace, Halifax with your data center, girl with Miqo, and liquor store with WoD of course.
Terra woes continue. hit fight #300 with no card last night. Just got on and was greated by DPS that got a TOTAL of 3 imp stacks in 3 fights. Yes, ONE person got ONE imp stack per fight. Two of them had double digit DPS before being changed into imps. Hate Hate Hate.
Pretty much why I bailed on my FC last night. It was hardly active and I never really did anything with them. And what you said is the truth which is what I'm generally bitching about. I'm glad they made solo/casual content, but that's pretty much all the content in this game minus FCOB. I'd like to see something in between that build more for a FC than DF/Statics. Something like a smaller scale of Sky/Sea/ZNMs/etc. or those leves they added way back in V1 for the Harlequin/Templar/Forgot what else gear and bloody lance/axe head.
As much as I hated what the XI community became due to HNM drama, I do miss it.
I'd love to see cross-sever FC/LS/PT implemented some day, though I think it would be best to keep dreaming.
idk why SE programmers have such a hard time making the game/chat cross realm, just about every other MMORPGs in the market has that feature.
The lockout limitation is also such a burden, especially when someone wants to help other do coil, having only 1 person already killed the boss kills the loot by 50% and of course it has to be that way because this game doesnt have any variety on coil gears, only 1 set of gear per job from coil or that other cheap shit that you buy from NPC.
Also only 8 person max for raid? thats not raid, people were able to socialize with a lot of people in oldschool XI because the endgame content requires a lot of people.
People were saying how long WoW goes without new content, but XIV releases endgame content just as long but with way less bosses to play with (only 4 bosses every coil? are you fucking kidding me SE?) and few casual shit content updates that doesnt matter. In the time that SE released final coil, WoW has released 17 raid bosses (4 modes of difficulty/does NOT share lockout), and 3 world bosses (which btw requires ALOT of people to kill).
#JPlimitation
plz SE hire westerners that know how to make a game.
WoW is also what, 10 years older than FFXIV? >_>
We'll probably see better handling of endgame in time, just not now, lol.
I just think you guys are shut-ins. I talk to others in my FC outside my static. It is what you make of it. If you only interact with the other seven that's up to you but it isn't the only people you have to talk to.
If you need forced group to chat with ppl then you probably don't see the value in mmo relationships past what you can get out of them. Doesn't make you a bad person, just how a lot in this game tend to be.
XI sucked bc of forced grouping to me. There was far too many people I didn't like always came to LS events. They helped me get lotsa gear, doesn't mean I liked em though.
I highly doubt it. WoW simply focus more on raids, which needs those conveniences (cross realm, flex, etc). We don't really need those things when most of the game is faceroll 4-man dungeons (and is working so I doubt they'll change anything).
Your MMO relationships doesn't seems any different than those I have outside the game.If you need forced group to chat with ppl then you probably don't see the value in mmo relationships past what you can get out of them.
That's kinda sad, isn't it lol it's a game after all.
FFXIV does seem a little light on content 4 hard core bosses every 6 months. I think Blizzard has a much bigger budget then SE which is why they have 14-16 bosses / 4 difficulties per tier. Problem is that half of SE's time is spent on the easy mode 24 man CT style raid which is alt job/throwaway content for people doing top tier raiding in FFXIV. Blizzard has also had much more time to develop their cross server invites and raids given how long the game has been out.
Maybe there will be more to do in Hevansward with a normal and hard mode of Alexander, but I am guessing the normal mode will by similar to CT raids now you queue up with randoms for some crappy loot you won't use for your main.
FFXIV has a lot more fluff stuff to do like farm mounts, crafting, collecting pets, geting glamor outfits. There is plenty of stuff to do if you are into that kind of stuff. Otherwise its just log in do 1 raid for an hour per week.
if you have a game 10 years old, obviously u know what is left in the community is all the hardcore fanbase.... you cAn then do majority of the contents at a high level...
ffxiv is so new it is still capturing new hearts. so it cant be too raid focused. i wouldnt even call ct a raid even tho iT is. right now the casuals make up the majority
just wait a year or more n u will see end game slam down ur throat like xi
come on now u guys really mmo Players? This is common sense. i bet u guys didnt play xi before zilart is released. it was fucking awful. not lIke xiv 1.0 awful obviously
I don't know about that.. remember the power of anonymity makes you think you can be anything on the net.
WoW always had this focus on raids and groups though, even after DF.
But the mentallity back then was different, people were ok with having to join guilds and making friends to run stuff.
I believe people (not you, MMO players in general) got too used with "group content = raid", you can make content that requires friends without it being a raid. Just look at the abandoned leve system, could be used for high level missions that requires several people without even having an arbitrary head count.
I think the general playerbase would rather get Terra's theme on magitek mount though
I won't deny I said a lot of things I wouldn't irl.
In about 10-20 years, the only FFs any future generation will know anything about is FF7 and FFX. Because the hell with the other older FFs according to SE re-re-release-re-re-re-remaster trend.
FFXIV complaint: It's fixed with glamours, but it's going to be a while before I hit 50 to gain access to it.. so. Still put off by the inconsistancy of good looking gear. One level: Awesome. Next level: Looks like crap. Next Level: Awesome. Then the long stretch of ugliness.
You still can't dye battlemage heat from original Braylox, can you? I haven't checked in a while but that is a great looking set that I love.
heat? anyways there's dyable battlemage in the form of PVP and crafted gear iirc
Which is ofc more restricted in terms of what jobs can use it.
On a related note: the recent XI update made their vanity system even more superior to XIV's in every way. If you can wear a piece of gear on one of your jobs, you can use it for vanity on any job.
